well I just recently uninstalled rf then tried reinstalling it into a different directory but then I got this error in the middle of the installation. Its almost the same as the error I got when trying to install F.E.A.R. except for F.E.A.R. it was called a feature transfer error and it occured at the end of the installation. So umm...Anyone have any ideas? |

If it happens at the exact same percentage every time you try and install then the problem is most likely your media and/or reader (CD or CD drive). I had this problem awhile back, to fix it I bought a cheap 52x CD drive and it was smooth sailing from then on. |

1. KERPAL have you tried installing the game on the default directory.
2. Have you tried turning off all the unnecessary programs running on the background then installing the game. I use to get an error back in the windows ME ( ) days and I had to do that.
3. Why would anybody want to install the game anywhere else but the default directory, unless you are running out of room on your C drive? |

I install all of my games to C:\Games. It makes it much easier to organize things as well as find them later. |

That's the exact same error message I got. It's either a problem with the CD or the CD drive. try installing it onto a different computer, if it works then try burning a copy of the disk and installing from that. If all else fails you can get another CD drive.
P.S. Slayer, the image would cause a problem as he's already stated he's running out of room on the C:\ drive... maybe he has enough on another disk, but images usually take up quite a bit of storage... |

ok I once got this error but I forgot how to fix it...
The first thing I did was make sure the CD was not damaged and checked for scratches...
the Second thing I did was I checked the IDE cables leading from my CD Drive and my Hard Drive. Then it worked.
I have a better idea though... Download a Program called "Alcohol 120%" Be great if you already have this program.
Make an Image of both of your RF CDs. After the image making process, your CDs should be listed on Alcohol. Simply Double click them to start them up as what a normal CD would do. Install that way.
Nearly the same as what Slayer said but in a much easier and quicker way!
If the process fails and you gain the same error, then it is indeed either your CD, CD Drives or there's something screwy with your computer .
If you would like a set of Detailed instructions, please PM me and I shall get back to you ASAP. |

OK, some things I know for sure:
1.I have the same error everytime, even when I try to install it in the default directory(c drive)
2.It's not from the cd, I installed it on another computer and it works just fine.
well, anyways thanks for the suggestions. I really do hope that my disk drive isn't shutting down on me, because I'd rather not go out and buy a new one, but like what Assman15 said if all else fails then I may as well get a new one. Oh and what do mean by creating an image? and where can I find this "alcohol" program? lol |
