hey... okay ..so its bean about 2 months now since i got my new isp ..its satellite internet ...but...they never told me i would have online gaming problems ...so the problem is: i just cant connect to the redfaction game tracker to play any multiplayer levels online ... anyone know how to configure this redfaction manually to connect right ? ... i emailed thq technical support ..but have not heard from them for like a month ...so now i ask in hear and hopefully someone cares .. then i can play online also ...my other pc games work online though ...one being painkiller and it plays online ..but most of the servers dont show up only one or two ...and my half-life 2 pc game works online also with many servers to play and connect to ... so i ask again in hear ..can anyone help me connect to the redfaction game tracker manually ? ..thanks ... if someone helps and i get it to work , i will probably be making some new levels again for all to play !!!! |

Sounds like a firewall issue. You may need to manually add your RF.exe to your Internet access allowed programs in your firewall. |

thanks yous .. but it didnt work ... is there a way to connect to the game tracker by using a special code typed in in the command line in the RFlauncher ? ie. - connect dammint 
i shut off all firewalls and phoned my isp and asked them what i could do ... all they said is that i could get a static ip ..so i said yes ..but they have none in my area ?!!?!?? ...still stook 
this is what i get when i try multi in rf.. pinging (84) but then i can't read any of them there !?!? whats with that ? .. i just installed the game so it can't be a virus or such .. i even tried typing in a server address manually and it still couldnt connect !?!? and i even tried the panja tracker app and got the same thing pinging (84) ... any help anyone ?? |

Do you have satellite internet or wireless internet? (do you get your internet from space or from a tower?) Because if you have satellite then theres probably not going to want to play games online because your ping would always be in the thousands, if you have wireless you might have to get your ISP to disable NAT for you unless u can access ur configurations yourself. Because when I first got wireless internet I couldn't get any servers so I called them up, and they said lets try disabling NAT and as soon as they did that I could get servers.  |

thanks yo for replying ... ya im internet with tower (wireless)... and yes i updated my RF to 1.20 and nope i can't connect worth a bean still .."NAT" sounds good to try though ... i gotta phone them up and askee if they can fix that ..thankees agains for the help ..im waiting for them to get me a static ip still ..but if i can get the NAT fixed , then im all set ...i keep in touch in hear again to update my progresses ...later... |

thanks DV for nat one ..lol ...anyways i just called my isp abut it all and they said the nat error would be fixed by getting a static ip ... so now i have to keep weighting on getting a static ip ..they said none are avaelable in me area and they are ordering some more potatos ..errr i mean static ips and will phone me bak when they beccome avaylable to my area ... thanks all again for trying ... i guess there is no way to put a simple command in the rf launcher to fix this connection error ???... sure hopes i can get this fixd so that i can play redfaction multiplayer again and make some more levels for all to play |

There just trying to make money off of you. They tried to sell us the static IP at first too but I said I didn't want it, and it's not needed if they just disable NAT. Who are you getting your wireless internet from? |

man it sounds as if ur isp are a bunch of...<imaganative slur here>and you should change. i just got dsl (australia) and all worked for me only faster. but the broadband doesn't work to it's full potential becaule the modem goes through an old phoneline that only has 2 wires running out of the house to the phone line to the exchange. 
i need to get that fixed but dvl is the one you need to be listening to.
if ur isp does not act/fix this you should threaten to change isp mabye that will get them going.
also as far as i'm aware there is no command line to fix this. guess you're stuck. |

No static IP's available in your area? That's a bunch of BS. You shouldn't need a static IP anyways, they're just a way for the company to earn extra money. Anyways, like IAC said, NAT could very well be the problem. |

Hmm since all routers seam to have the similar local ip's, I wonder if all wireless Internet receivers have the same local ip. try opening up IE and typing in 169.254.1.1 and if it works and comes up with a user name and pass box, leave the user name blank and enter xyxyxy as the pass and if this works it should bring up your wireless config, and if it does then chances are both our isp's use the same wireless equipment.. or we might have the same isp.. anyway if it does bring up your config, see if there's an "advanced network configuration" link on the side and if there is click it and one of the things you should see now is NAT Enable/Disable with an enable and disable bubble. see if you can click the disable bubble then click "save changes", then click "reboot"
Chances are you wont get past the entering the ip in IE part cuz I doubt we both have the same equipment unless we have the same ISP, but try it anyway just to see. |

But that google IP is a public IP the one I typed is a local IP and it doesnt connect to the isp it connects to the intenna thingy on my roof. just like if u were to type 192.168.1.1 your not going to be able to connet to my router. |

woweee woweee ... thanks DV .. we do have the same isp ..i can get all the way to the settings ...but when i try to disable the nat , or change any setting there , it asks for another password and xyxyxy don't work as one there ... i don't know the password there .. but the first password you had xyxyxy got me ahead ... wow.. what is the password you had to use when you changed your nat settings ?... anyone know where i could get a password hack ? ... <now using very wierd swear words>this isp is the only good one in the area ... shaw cable is in the area but they have a bandwidth limit and they watch all your downloads and nail you if you download something they don't want you to have ... someone in my area said they got nailed for downloading an animated movie ... and that was the other reason why i had to change my isps because shaw has changed there rules and laws ... so im stuck with this lying isp and there aint no other isps except one that would cost $100 hookup fee and would have the same laws as shaw .. so im still stuck with this nat of an isp  ... anyone know a password hacking program ?
.::EDIT::. -->>I just hacked that password and can now disable the nat ... but ... what are the next settings to put in there ? .. like what filter do i put on the packets ? or what port do i use to filter ,etc. ??? ... can anyone help ? i got this far ... i should be able to lick this problem now ... DV ... where'd you go ?
::edit #2:: -->>i forgot to add that i disabled the nat and then i couldnt surf or anything on the net ... so i had to switch it back to nat enabled .. im getting close now ... hopefully not band from my isp now ..lol |

I didn't do it myself, when I called the people they did it for me. I found that page after they changed everything for me. But if, when you disabled NAT, your internet stopped working then theres probably some other settings you have to change but IDK what the other settings you have to change are..
This is what my Advanced network config page looks like and all the things that are checked off, is yours the same?
