Ok for those that don't know i have been making a micro map of my Room (for those that havn't seen it heres the link http://redfaction.levels4you.com/forum.l4y?do=view&t=97493&viewfrom=49I have been trying to do a verry Detailed map. so heres the thing i have been trying to make a computer fan and Monitor turn on and off. The monitor Works with the switch, Trigger event->Switch->KeyFame, I have set the keyframe to one way making a Desktop image Come infront of a black Screen.
now what iam try to do is make the fan work when the switch is pressed, i so far have Trigger event->switch->keyframe with the properties set for "rotate in place" and Degrees about axis to 360.00 and i have been playing around with the settings on Movement and all that happens when i press the switch is that the Fan spins a full 360 then stops or it spins Continuously and can't stop when Switch is pressed again.
Does any one know how to make the Fan Spin Countinously then start and stop when switch is pressed
Thanks |

Quoting L4Y Infernus | Trigger Door ->Keyframe ... Edit the trigger door properties, where it says...Meh, i'll just show a pic.
See where it says "Use Key is required to Activate Trigger"...check that...and use the Trigger Door instead of trigger auto.
That seems a little confusing to me, but it should work |
Ummm.....yer that is already how it's set or the Screen wont turn on and off.
Quoting Cibus_Animatus | have u tried where it says: ''one way'' switching it to something else? (eg: contiuous something or other) |
yer i changed it alot and if it continous it dosnt stop spinning when you press the switch | |

I could be wrong because I havn't messed in RED ed for a while, but the only way I can think of doing this is as follows...
Have a switch linked to a trigger door that is linked to a massive trigger which will cover your entire level. Start this massive trigger in a small airbrush way away from your level. This massive trigger is the one that will be linked to the fan. So when you press the switch it brings the huge trigger to fill your level (with a move speed of 0.1 seconds), which means there will always be someone who will be activating this trigger to make the fan move.
Then when the switch is pressed again it moves the huge trigger away and the fan should stop.
You understand? If not I'll make a small demo level to show you later. |

Quoting Cibus_Animatus | thats messed man. Hmm... i would say expirament with all your options and try different combinations |
Messed? Have you tried coming out with something more constructive than "try almost an infinite number of possibilities?
Do it the way I said, it will work! If ya can't get it to work I will demonstrate it to you with a simple map. Good luck |

ok ... whatever you guys are talking about seems OVERLY complex ...
the monitor could be done with a simple lift keyframe setting while the fan could be done with a on off event switch linked to a cyclic timer linked to the fan
"use" trigger --->screen keyframe (lift setting ... this keeps it sychronized with the other people in the level, this way when you see the screen on, they do too ... i think )
"use" trigger --->switch event (set initially to off (or whatever the PC starts off as, and with infinite throws) --->cyclic timer (set to infinte sends, time set at (rotations per minute, or less can't remember might have to play with that)) --->Fan keyframe (set to rotate, and i think one way or loop would work if you set the return time to 0 seconds )
there ... all done without keyframing triggers ...
... well, i guess you could go either way (lol)
Edit: im not sure the fan would be sychronized with other players in the level using these events ... maybe i could be wrong ... but from your point of view, it should work ... |

I hope you guys DO realise there is a "Modify_Rotating_Mover" event in the modifiers section... |
