Hey guys, For no apparent reason, RF has been crashing online after about 5 min of play, It looks like i am looking at the cieling and spinning doing about 100 turns a minute. My Windows Firewall, is allowing it. i can also see my mouse at the top left hand corner ofthe screen but can barley move it.

Specs: AMD Althlon 64 Procesor 3500+
2.21 GHZ
1.00 GB Of ram
250GB SATA/1GB main drive
160GB SATA/3gb (Slave Drive)

You could accidently be pressing the windows key when in game, pressing it does what you just described. (I've done it numerous times )

hmmm you did not tell us what Graphics card you have. If you have an On-board graphics, I would strongly recommend you buy a Graphics card since Motherboards cannot handle the 3D effects of Red Faction.

wth

Integrated graphics will work PERFECT for RF More than enough really. Integrated GeForce 4MX440 especially.

Plz look at Red Faction minimum requirements.

Quote
Minimum System Requirements:

Win9x/Me, P2/K6-2 400, 3D accelerator card w/ 8MB VRAM, 64MB RAM, 4x CD-ROM, 900MB HD space, sound card, mouse, keyboard

Does a motherboard now days even support just 8MB onboard RAM...
Most integrated are 32MB and up.

It's happened to me before-----------

I've got a Logitech cordless mouse

Don't know why this fixxed it but this is what I did that finally made it stop doing that.

UN-INSTALLED the mouse and mouse drives. Rebooted, re-installed the newest drivers. Fixxed it.

Good luck,
MM

ok so You have got a graphics card thank god...

You will find that most intergrated motherboards cannot support RF, just like my friend is experiancing up the road from my house. He has a newish computer that was bought about 1 yr bk, and its not running RF without crashing every 10 minutes of playing.

I would suggest to re-install Red Faction without deleting any of your custom maps or levels. There could be a point where you *MIGHT* of installed a mod and didnt remove it properly.

Unless it was a reverted ISA integrated vid card, it should run RF with no issues. My last integrated mobo was 3 or 4yrs ago and it played RF like it was butter... I'd say your friend has other issues with his computer, not the integrated video. Also, make sure he has the latest Nvida/ATi drivers.

And yea Lanshire, just try downloading the latest drivers @ nvidia.com

I hit my tab key by accident all the time. It does that very thing you stated. Spinning out of control. I usually have to reboot to get back to my desktop. It took me a while to figure out what was doing it. I was trying to hit the #1 key and missing. The windows key as killbot stated also does the same thing.Just another bug in Rf.

Hmmm, At the moment, his graphics drivers stand no were because the book doesn't say what graphics drivers to install. The Motherboard CD when i looked and installed didn't show any graphics drivers being placed onto the computer either. And there is no information given about the motherboard except all the crap u find in the manual. The manual didn't have any pages about his on-board graphics.

... Should be a given. Right click on desktop, click on Properties, Settings tab, Advanced button, and there on some tabs you should either see some ATi tabs or Nvidia tabs.
