Perhaps I am the only person to mention this but I am overwhelmed when I am viewing the Red Faction section. There is a pile of announcements which seem rather arbitrary and block the archival topics which concern Red Faction...
Weekly Round-Up 15 Sep - wouldn't this be better off just in the main section?
F.E.A.R. Extraction Point Demo Out Now! - why is this in the Red Faction section?
Galactic Civilization 2: Dark Avatar - ummmm, what?
$1 Million In Solitare? -
Red Faction Most Downloaded Files - OK, this is passable I guess but would like to see it as part of the Maps Update.
Battlefield 2 1.4 Patch Released -
It goes on. I have to look down 16 topics before I see the last Red Faction Map Update. I remember a time when all the Red Faction Map Updates were stacked one on top of the other. It was clear and concise. Easy to review.
Now it's all administrative SPAM. Is this the new standard across the entirety of L4Y?
I know you guys have put a lot of work into levels4you and for years I have appreciated it from afar. But now that I participate - I am compelled to share my perspective. I always speak my mind. Fighting for truth, justice and the pursuit of liberty!
I am not angry about this nor am I trying to offend anyone. It's just too much.

Its global news, which is visible from every section.
just goto the L4Y News Archive and under the author look for the news posted in the redfaction section, and you can go way back if you want.
I understand what your trying to point out, but I don't think I see it as much as a problem as you do, but feel free to scream out your opinion |

I agree, too much
Maybe an option could be made like we have for the forum posts network wide or just per-section for the news, so if your in RF section you would ONLY get the rf news etc.
Though I don't know the specifics of the way that part is setup. |

Its 2 a week per active section on the site.
One highlights all the files added in the previous week just in case you missed them the first time around as well as listing all the new reviews whilst the other lists the top 3 downloads in the last week so you can try the files others are download in case you've not already done so.
I see no reason to change this. |

Thankfully I am sober now. I also figured nothing would be changed - even if I am old and get confused easily. But, I still believe I have a valid point.
Look at it from the layman's perspective; someone unfamiliar with the internet. Levels4you is a literal blizzard of activity. It's got stuff flying off the handle, links everywhere, topics and threads all over and off the map. It's really daunting.
Years ago, I was intimidated by levels4you. I couldn't figure out what was going on, it was a blur of text and links that made no sense. The only thing I could grasp was clicking the link for downloads in the RF section. I wish I could have figured out this forum back then - I could have contributed so much more by now.
But it isn't anyone's fault but my own. I am a drunken machinist not a caffeinated computer guru.
I would like to see more folks jumping in and participating - but I am afraid that some folks will be confused and intimidated like I was years ago. Not everyone eats, breathes and sleeps in html.
I would recommend that the weekly per section updates be manifested into the left hand column for each section and tone down the volume of "global news".
I realize that I am a difficult person to deal with... I am opinionated, I am a vicious non-conformist and I will always stand up for the little guy no matter the cost.
Thanks for hearing me out and for not banning me when I rock the boat. |

Hmm i dont think I have horns
I think it just takes up a lot of front page space on sections.
What about extending the news post count in the specific section pages. |
