Ok, i have a problem and can't figure it out... I created a ded. server with RF ServerAssist 4 (updated) and I cant get it to show up in the server list other than clicked "Add Server" and following the instructions that the last post of this problem contained. I put 7756 in the force port in the RF SA window and typed 7755 in the network force port in the RF launcher. What do I do? |

Its a problem with your ports, i assume your running off of a router, depending on which router you have, you may have to manually forward the ports. We cant explain how unless you tell us what your router is. Brandname and make number would be needed.
Get us that information and we can help some more |

hi!
i found this in my archive:
Start RF ServerAssist.
Make sure that Messaging is off.
Type 7756 in the "Force Port" box at the bottom left.
Start the server and then minimise the dedicated server console window and
RF ServerAssist.
Then start your RedFaction.exe (not rf.exe) and in the "Setup-->Network" set
the port to 7755.
Click Play and see if you can get a server list.
Click "Add Server" and type "127.0.0.1:7756"
You should see your server in the list.
-----------------------------------------------------------
On my server i configured it a little bit different i use the port:7755 in the server assist and the port 7756 in the rf.exe launcher.
In my router (netgear) i have configured the portforwarding
7755 and 7756 - thats all and it runs nice on windows xp.
I had only problems with my old computer (an intel P III with 800 mhz)
- this one was not fast enough to run the dedi server and also
play in it, but now on my amd64 with 6600gt graphiccard all runs ....

I have the same router, and I think I know the issue. Do you have a wireless encryption enabled? Such as WEP?
Also, if you don't, just forward the ports, and then run the server, it should show just fine. |

WEP = Short for Wired Equivalent Privacy, a security protocol for wireless local area networks (WLANs) defined in the 802.11b standard. WEP is designed to provide the same level of security as that of a wired LAN. LANs are inherently more secure than WLANs because LANs are somewhat protected by the physicalities of their structure, having some or all part of the network inside a building that can be protected from unauthorized access. WLANs, which are over radio waves, do not have the same physical structure and therefore are more vulnerable to tampering. WEP aims to provide security by encrypting data over radio waves so that it is protected as it is transmitted from one end point to another. However, it has been found that WEP is not as secure as once believed. WEP is used at the two lowest layers of the OSI model - the data link and physical layers; it therefore does not offer end-to-end security. |

My network is unsecured, because I had problems with the rest of my computers on the network. I got my server to show up ONCE using keyser_soze's method, but it'll only do it SOMETIMES, plus i can't join the server I'm running the dedicated server on. I can join in that server on my laptop (that one time it actually showed up in the server list) but my ping was over 2300! The only other way that I hav found to get the server to show up is to add server, but if I want other people to join my server, then they would have to know my IP Address. In addition to all of that, I recently learned that I can't even make a server through the "Create Game" button... >.< Any suggestions? |

Well, unfortunately, I've tried everything I could think of. I've tried force porting through my router; didn't work, I've tried DMZ (opening all ports); didn't work. I've tried force porting through RED FACTION; didn't work. I used a static IP to do all this and still, nothing. What's so strange about all this stuff is, for example, I create a dedicated server through my desktop and I go on my laptop to find the server, I find the server, but I only see it ONCE! If I click "Get Servers", it won't show up. The only other way it shows up is by clicking "Add Server" and typing in my IP address. But what I'm trying to do is get it to show up in the server list automatically and ALL THE TIME! So, please, if ANYONE has ANY help they can give me, PLEASE DO SO! I'm up in arms with what else to do. Thank you for all your help so far...
