Hey hey folks, quick question with hopefully a quick fix...
I'm stoked that Panjaland's server changed their maps even though it is still on theme and I downloaded all the Nikki's maps from their site (previously had them from here but they didn't work first so I went to their site) and they're all in my maps folder but when I try to join the game it says I don't have the required map??? I don't understand. I tried renaming the files so they didn't have an apostrophe in Nikki's Nikkis. I don't know what else to do. I Wanna Play!!! Hopefully someone knows, please and thank you!

Ok numero 1, do NOT rename maps/vpps it causes complications unless you know what your doing. renaming the VPP is fine but the actual RFL isnt.

Does it say you dont have the map or a different version?

If its different version they are running a new/old/altered version to the map you downloaded. If its you dont have the map, have you extracted the files from the rar/zip? How many maps do you have in your Multi folder? could be you have too many. How expierenced are you at custom maps. if your expierenced we can skip a few.
Trying to find old players. Anyone about? Drop me a PM or reply to this thread:

Thresher, you probably just have to many maps in your multi maps folder. Seems like when you get over 250 maps, radomly maps stop working. Not sure what decides which one will not work. I make another folder in my maps folder and move alot that i dont play anymore.I have how ever been able to get over 500 maps to work by putting 200 map chunks in 1 vpp. But still there is a limit.when i have to many maps now i get pack file error before rf loads

Yeah, that has happened to me before when I had over 400 maps in my multi folder, so just try deleting some maps in your multi folder until they start showing up.

I never thought of this, but is it possible to stick all the Multiplayer maps you download into one big VPP file... Leave the names of the RFL files, and extract every map and texture from each VPP then create one big VPP file... Ive never tried that, could make your Multi folder a little tidier.

BTW thx for the help everyone...

I downloaded the maps straight from Panjaland.com so I SHOULD have the right version, and besides that it says I don't have the map at all. So I went through and deleted a bunch of maps that I haven't played... since I started playing RF seeing as I had close to 400... so now I'm down to 267 and I tried to start the game and it says I'm out of packfile space (?) and it gave a directory that doesn't even come close to the RF folder (and I have 40 gigs of free space left on the HDD) so now I'm completely lost... probly just reinstall (and I WILL backup my maps). But once again thx, hopefully this error message will go away...

Oh, the directory it listed when it gave me the packfile error doesn't exist...

You dont need to reinstall. Out of pack file space means you have too many maps. I get that message all the time, now that i have to many maps. I am at my max limit. Every time i add a map i have to delete one.Or i get that same error. Im not sure why you didnt get that error before with 400 maps. Maybe the files sizes of the levels you kept. Just another Rf bug.

I wonder if sticking maps in the single folder instead of the multi folder would work too, but i'm not for sure.

Its quite strange, only the multi folder will work for multi, but both multi and single will work for single

P.S. you CAN put weapon/skin mods & sound/music mods in your Single maps folder!!!

That's how I do it. I just makes it a lot easier finding the skins/mod files if I need to remove it/them.
I too have two folders with multi levels to move maps around if needed. The method has one minor flaw...I move one file from the non-multi folder to the multi folder and all of a sudden I get a out of pack error like SWAMadcat stated above. Now I have to decide what levels to remove from the multi folder to be able to start the game again.

Yes, back in the day this was a common practice but one still runs up against an absolute data size in RF. I don't remember what it is but even if all the maps are in a single VPP the total data size cannot exceed a certain amount (it's huge though).
