hey all ive been working on a few maps and im working on one where i need to have a switch And a light (light goes on light goes off) so what i have done is Create Light & Create Keyframe and make it move away when i press the switch, The Properties for the key frame is verry simple with it being A oneway Movement and with the departing and returning time being 0.02, I then have it hooked up to a Trigger with a switch, Normaly with objects this all works, the item goes away then comes back when you press the switch but this isnt working with my light.
Does any one know whats wrong?

a light isnt a simple object, move the acual light all you like.. the light maps will still stay. Theres no way to switch off a light...

Have a look at Dankone's DM-Lights-Out to see how he used kiliads method for a switchable fog state event to get the lights to turn on and off

But simply moving a light on a keyframe will not work.

ahh thanks i didn't know the Light Couldnt move with a key Frame ill give the fogstate ago
[Edit] Ok i understand how it works but how do i do this for one room only?

i dont think there is a way... as you cannot only have fog in one room

hrrmmm...Can Room Effects move with Keyframes?? If so i can do it with the Ambient Lights then also use room portals?

no, clutter and items are preety much the only thing that will work on keyframes... and events, but moving an event.. well the event is invisable anyway so...

It can be done using brushes and the correct textures.

A light changes how the textures will look, So you will need to make two sets of the same textures.

One set of the textures will be for lights on, the other set will be for lights off.

Next you can make face brushes which will cover the entire room.
you could even add shadows too.

So if you had a simple room with four walls, floor and ceiling.. You could easily acheive the result with six face brushes which can then be keyframed and become movers.

But this kind of brushwork is quite difficult.

Yeah I agree with Ninja~ since Volition did not put dynamic lightning entire into game for some reason )they propably ran out of time.
Anyway so if you want to create of impression with lights go on and off, you need make that with tricks since there is not an easy way.
