im not too sure my self, This is my friends error message and which ive been trying to solve my self...
im not 100% sure on this but I recon he has started to get this error after running that Application which forces full screen applications into Windows mode using DirectX. It is called Dxnwd.exe and is downloadable from Levels4you under Red Faction in the Tools section.
WHenever I've had that error it's been solved by reducing the resolution in the RF setup. But someone else is having this same problem and that didn't fix it for him
After doing another talk with Wakey, We have managed to solve the issue.
This is very simple and easy to do.
1) Download your latests Graphics card drivers and save them to a easy location from www.ati.com or www.nvidia.com.
2) After download is finished, Un-install your currently graphics drivers installed on your computer using "Add/Remove programs" in the control Panel. Reboot your computer after this is completed.
3) After computer has rebooted, locate the drivers you downloaded and saved, Install these new drivers and go through the Setup Wizard.
4) Reboot your computer once again for the drivers to update with Windows.
5) Finally, load either RED or Red Faction and the error will no longer appear any more.
Hope this helps anyone in the future .
Many thanks to those who have tried to be a great support and offered their knoldges of this fatel issue.
i had this problem alot. I had it because my video card sucked real bad, and because of it it crashed rf and that message popped up. what i did was buy a new card, or just restart your computer.

I have always found that simply rebooting the computer fixes that problem when it occurs for me.
Gosh i've had that error before. If i remember right it was my 4 in 1 drivers for my via chip based mother board. If you have a via chip set get the latest hyperion drivers from via's website

I am not sure what wakey's computer specs are. All I can say is that those where the steps we took to solve the error problem.
If you have other ways of doing it, then thats fine. But remember, that others have different computers to what you have and different steps are taken to fix their problem.
Perhaps if we ALL had the same computer, everyones error would be fixed with one wack.
