Okay I thought to post one more topic about my "eternity project" know as RF SDI.
Idea for this posting came from friend of mine who asked a set of logicial questions about this project and about what I am going to do with this project. Once there is some results within this project I will start actual game modification project, which likely will be realistic warfare action.
Project RF SDI is longterm background project on which I have worked for quite some time now mostly by studying. However this project may take a long time to get done in which I will work to Study, Develop and Improve within current limits of possibilities. At some point this project will be turned into stand alone total conversion but to that point is long road ahead. Also at some point for this project will be produced own toolset Which specifications will be given at later time.
So currently I am (still) studying howto add anykind of new content into Red Faction. This inlcudes newstatic items, weapons, characters etc. Also I am working to get our documentation to cover the rest of table files. (this includes atleast materials.tbl and foley.tbl etc)
All work for this project is done alongside my studies in upper secondary, which will consume alot of my time so I excpect that I am able to work mostly on weekends to this project. |

The purpose of your cdc is all in my brain.
Ive discoverd most tbls have limits while im working on aquest almost everyday. I dont know how much longer i can stuff things into the entity.tbl before it stops functioning entirely. Some other tbls im working with at maximum capacity is the vclip tbl. im going to have to start overriding things... thats not good. As the emitters and explosion tbls are limited by the vclip tbl im not sure how much further i can go before i have to start overriding critical FX.
As for the Ponr.tbl i can (i think) safely achieve a extra 60 entries. However i have broken the ponr.tbl once before and thats bad because that breaks the save functionality of RF completley. and if i do that kiss the RF campaign goodbye.
personas.tbl im not sure theres very little information in there anaways. Foley.tbl im pushing very hard as i demand alot of space for custom sound FX and soundsets but do with very little overriding. As for clutter ive only added like 3 entries. |

Yeah, well you seem to have a lot of work for your project.
Maybe we should do little co-operation since I have found some interesting things (not just limits) within table files.
Also documentation for non documented tablefiles work would be great (as I am going to work on materials.tbl as first, since most of all I need more materials into my project.) |

Yeah you got that right, one part of this project is to write tutorials in various topics like howto add various new things into games (entities, materials, sounds sets etc.)
However I will put some quality for these tutorials, and all will be writen in HTML/XML format with PNG/JPG pictures. This just because this enables everyone with internet browser to read those tutorials, even offline. Also cross reference is much easier that way.
Now what comes to those who want to help me I hope that you meet following criterias.
- You have good knowledge of making mods for RF.
- You can speak good english.
- All agree that all writen tutorials(including any content like pics) you write for this project, can be used in this project as knowledge base. |
