I am running a dedicated server for red faction . I was wondering when you ban a players ip address where does it store it because I can see where it saved it. I no it did not saved it in the banlist.txt inside the red faction main folder.

I think that's where they're saved... maybe you accidentaly kicked instead of banned. I'm pretty sure the banlist.txt is the only place bans are saved.

Are you using a 3-rd party program (anything other than the default) to run the server? Some programs may have their own banlist separate from RF.

maddmaxx4 the ban list is located here:

C:\games\RedFaction

It's a text file name: banlist as mentioned above.

As far as I know, all the server programs and the one that came with the game all save it on that location.
If you only kicked somebody, it WILL NOT save the IP address and thus you will not find it on the ban list.

I see That it does not add the IP address right away to the ban list but it does appear aftre a while .

Quoting m8.Jools
you'll often find it new entries don't appear in the ban list until you close the server. also changes you make to it won't take effect until the server is restarted. it's not a 'live' file, as such.

You are totally correct there. If you ban a player or player and the server crashes, those IPs won't be save and it would be like they were never added to the ban list.
