Hey guys,
I got an email from "Bird" also known as "Junker". He asked me how to fix the maps WOC1 and 2 for Mac systems because they crash when he removes the music files.
I know that there are people on l4y with Mac computers (or Mac OS),
and I would like to know if there are fixed versions to download of the mentioned maps.

thanks in advance!

Maybe Hapa Hanu can convert it for you.

I have a MAC Sound Safe version of WoC 2.

I have not tested the MAC Sound Safe WoC 1 yet.

I will test it in about 10 hours and upload them both separately to FileFront and I will post the links here in this thread.

BTW: I will start uploading other individual MAC Sound Safe maps to FileFront and share the links with NCF that he may add them to the descriptions of the maps here.

I have met Junker before, but I have not seen him around lately. Glad he is still with us tho.

Hapa, when you make the levels "Sound Safe" what exactly do you do?
I know of one way to make the level safe for both Mac's and PC's... but that would end up in leve incompatibility.

Im just thinking it would be easier to modify the RF files to look for .wav files instead of the .aif files (I think thats the extension); but, that would take forever.

Hapa, we should make a tutorial or something that tells people how to make there map Mac safe before they release... thats what Im doing now.

Good work though, Hapa!

Well first off. I did a quick test of WoC1 and I am fairly certain that it works and that the default game sounds are functional.

Here are the links:
For a MAC Sound Safe version of WoC 1 click here!
For a MAC Sound Safe version of WoC 2 click here!

KillaFreak, it is a tricky affair. To get the MAC RF to read .wav; one would have to change the programming the in the RF application. I know nothing about programming to decode it, alter it and recompile it.

I have documented what the MAC RF needs to use custom sounds many times before:

• MAC RF uses .aif sound files in the IMA 4:1 format
• It is quirky but 22,100 kHz and 11,050 kHz sample rates seem to work the best
• I use a program called SoundApp PPC (OS 9) to convert .wav into .aif IMA 4:1 format
• Apparently QuickTimePro (MAC and PC versions) can also convert .wav into .aif into the IMA 4:1 format
Note: The biggest hang up is that each map offers arbitrary results - sometimes a sound works and sometimes it doesn't. So each sound has to be tested and the sample rate adjusted if it does not work.

Edit: I just uploaded the following microfaction file - MAC Sound Safe:

All seven microfaction maps in one .vpp!

Even us PC users benefit because we have more people to play against.

Yes. All five of us MAC users appreciate my tawdry efforts.

This holiday weekend I will upload a barrage of MAC Sound Safe maps and share the links with SuperFrank so that he may throw them into the individual map descriptions.

Is it just me? I noticed that the CODE function on this site does not work correctly?

PS: I just found out I am ranked number 390 in FileFront downloads! WooHoo!

Hapa HanuWTH you want me to work on my 5 days off. If you read the suggestions I wrote in this page, you will see I've been busy.
I told you I would do it and I will too.
I have to go to file front and find all the levels you have uploaded to that site and add the links to the description on the files we have here.
Goes and test drive the car to make sure error messages don't come back on car's computer.
