honestly i have no idea how they decide that ... i just put my stuff where it is needed ... in small spaces a shotgun ... in a tower a sniper rifle ...

We don't know how does it work. Only Chuck Norris cas do this. If you really don't know how to place weapons, just open one of RF maps in editor. Maybe you don't know how to go to object mode? Anyway read RED Editor help.

no, i think hes saying how do you decide what weapons to place in certain areas ... not how to place them ...

Personally I make the map then I play it. I try to look all around and then figure out what weapon would be best there. At the same time, I never try to give a position an advantage. If I give you a rail, I try to make sure there are other rail guns near by to smoke you with. If I give you a percision rifle at the other end of the map you can be sure that there will be a weapon that can reach you.
Also, don't make a mistake of adding hand guns to the levels, why some people have done it is weird to me. Why add weapons that you already spawn with.
As far as the height, I do them at 1/2 meter from the floor.
Make sure you add enough ammo where you place the guns, if you don't and the server is set to weapons stay, you are going to have a lot of unhappy people wondering where all the ammo is. Also only put the ammo that is to that of the nearest weapon, don't put the weapons ammo far away from the gun where somebody has to travel across the map just to get more ammo. Put in an ammo pack for every one weapon placed on the level, hopefully right next to it.
Well that what I do and I hope that helps you since I don't quite understand your question.

Frank you understood the question pretty well. I was just trying to get a feel of what types of weapons to put in certain places and stuff like that. thanks for the insight.

Chuck Norris can do anything that we can't.
Well, for me..I guess kinda do it the same way NCF does it. but here's a few tips: on weapons, ammo, health and armor set their respawn time's to like 1 second or something so you don't have to wait a really long time just to get ammo or anything. Oh and it's also a really good idea to place multiplayer respawn points near weapons or right on top of them so when they start out they can automatically have a weapon and dont have to walk across the map just to find one, just like NCF suggested.

I did that with my first map, the sad thing was that I didn't know you could reset the spawn times on weapons or else I would have started doing them at 1 second as well. I believe it was mad_ferrit who I notice doing that first. I might of being somebody else, but I noticed it on one of his maps first.

You added too many. if you add more than 200 object, only 200 will show up... But wait there is more...

Just because you can add 200 objects doesn't mean you should.
Why you ask? Stop asking questions before I am done telling you.
If you add 200 object and you frag somebody with a weapon at hand the weapon won't appear since only 200 weapon can or will be seen at one time. Basically this is what can happen. A player (probably me) gets a fusion, you rail the player before he(probably me) can fire it, the weapon won't be there when you go try and getting it, which sucks. I normally try and keep the object(weapon/ammo/health/armour) count to a number between 170 and 180 tops.
P.S. remember that every weapon that is left behind by a player adds to the count of weapons in the level, which is the reason I do what I do.

so you are saying you can't have over 200 items or 200 objects? its objects isn't it ... stupid RED ...

my whole map has to be 200 objects ... hell i have 64 keyframes at least ...

also does it matter if the UID is a number higher than 200?

I'm just saying that if you add that many, more likely than not they will not all show up.
Your whole map is 200 objects?
What no brushes or anything else? It's one solid brush(what you basically start out with) with objects stuck inside of them, no wonder they don't show up.

Something else that might be usefull for you if you want to add weapons to your level.

Weapons and their arcording ammo: http://redfaction.levels4you.com/forum.l4y?do=view&t=105819

Ow and Frank give a good idea for a Basic layout with the weapons set up and i agree with him with the laying ammo close to weapons its for, I do how ever don't lay any ammo next to the hmg if I have one in a level of mine. if i have hmg ammo in a level its on the other side of the level from where the hmg can be found

The HMG (Minigun) Could be overused if theres too many of them and no weapons nearby that can take them out (rail, fusion, rocket, presision, submachine)...
