Yeah I have had similar problems like that in the past there is something wrong with the next frame in that group.
First possibility its not there. Second its named wrong I am sure there are several others but at least you know which frame it is. |

So what you are saying is that Frame-0040.tga is either currupted or is not there?

Well I see its there and the file size looks to be the same as the other tga files...it might be a bug in the file name. Try opening it up in Photoshop start to save it but delete the "40.tga" then put it back on and save it with Frame-0040.tga
I found in the past that sometimes if you rename the file different from the saved file name outside the program it reads the name wrong. |

Whenever I had that problem one of those things always fixed it. So I do not know of any other fixes for this kind of problem.
Perhaps make a new tga file with the same name and dimensions and replace the current one with that to see if it bypasses that frame.
Check the dimensions of the frames before that one and that one
Check the bit size make sure they are the same (24bit vs. 32bit)
Check the alpha channel make sure its not missing |

Because your frames are 760kb, by the time you get to the 40th frame your filesize is approximatel 25MB which VBM does not allow and makevbm crashes.. simply try making smaller texture resolution or less frames..
What on earth do you need a VBM with more than 1500 frames with texture resolutions that high? It was going to be a 400MB file.. like hmmm IAC does not even go that far. |

Well, Clever me came up with an idea to make "In-Game" Movies for Red Faction. Since I am create a mod called "Final Fantasy Faction VII", I had to extract every picture frame from the FF7 movie files and convert them to TGA. Now I need to place them all into a VBM animation to make a movie. Then all I do is place the VBM on a brush, make a Cutscene camera point at it, then URIKA! in-game movie.
If there was easier way to do this, I would of done it by now. Unfortunally, there isnt except construct the 3D movie its self... thats quite difficult lol.
***EDIT***
Well I tried what you said Ninja. The VBM works but RED keeps crashing each time I load the VBM up lol... Damn! |

Red Faction simply wasn't made for cutscene cinimatics. I can't think of any way you can get decent cinimatics into the game without requiring the user to erform alot of work themselves... VBM's just don't seem like a good idea (400mb for a manditory video without sound!?). |

Your best bet is to replicate the actual movie.. it might seem hard but trust me it will look more original... you will have to make the settings in RED.. and maybe make some transparent textures with the characters also in small VBM sized animations..
yes its alot of work.. but if you are actually going into that much effort for just a movie cutscene then im sure you are wanting to spend alot of time on it.. |

Yep your right, I do want to spend alot on this. Infact, lets just say I completed it, It would end up over 4GBs. i would probley have to produce CDs of it lol.
The Cutscene system I thought of will have sound because ive recorded the movie sounds too. |

Iron Sun mod was only 50MB, and that had 50 people working as a team.. So i dont see how you think you could accomplish a mod which is 4GB single-handedly..
Unless you actually tried your hardest to make the filesize incredibly large.. but why would you want that, I have my own reasons for wanting to make the filesizes a specific size in my maps but not like that. |

Ah but you see my friend, I didn't specificly say it WAS going to be 4GBs. I am hoping I can keep it under 1GB.. You need to think, Final Fantasy VII is a very big game which contained 4 disks on the PlayStation. The world map is very big so for me to make it work, the world will need to be divided into sections for RF to handle it. And also when you enter a town or area, a map will be loaded for that. but coming back out will be a great issue too. once you have completed a part of the story, a new world will have to produced with a different story line and so on.
From there, your probley confused. Its hard to explain but I have it all in my mind.
You are right, it is going to be quite hard tackling this single handed. its posted in the CDC section of L4Y if you would like to check it out. I have D2K helping me but theres not much work being done yet until he sorts his computer out. Need someone to make me a sword weapon like Clouds from FF7 using 3D Studio max. Need it to be swung like the baton is but slower. |

Having played FFVII I honestly don't see how you can possibly make this work. Not just the cutscenes, but the mapping as well. I'm interested as to how you're going to attempt this. |
