I was thinking, why not get some mappers together who are interested in making a single player map and working on it together, the file could be passed around and evryone could take turns working on it, a story could be decided on ahead of time and general guidlines could be layed down but the majority of what happens would be left up to the indavidual mapper, if anyone is interested post here and we can decide how to get started.

A singleplayer version of RedTech? Sounds like a pretty good idea, who would do it though?

actually, i think it would be even more interesting if you didn't lay down a basic plot in which people have to follow ...

Have you ever tried to make a story with a large group and all of you take turns writing on the story? ... The story gets pretty wild, and thats what makes it so cool .

well i really can't join your project unless im one of the last people and i get alot of stuff done ... ive got VoicePacks for marswars that needs to be done, A MP map im working on, My car need work, and i am already working on a SP project for RED DOOM ...not to mention im broke

(I am trying to break a nasty habit of accepting tasks and not ditching them for other things untill im done ...)

GTA cant get enough of the SP series!

After playing RED DOOM he wants more...

There are lots of people who can create maps.. But after seeing some custom characters in action im wanting to try to make my own in 3d studio max

Ninja, its not too hard, i can get some EXCELLENT video tutorials.. but where your on 56k, i dont know how usefull they would be (each is 25-80mb...)

I have downloaded a 1.5 gig game on 56k before but I dont want tutorials that are not what im trying to do..

By the way how can you say its not hard to make characters when only a couple people have ever got decent player models working correctly in RF?

Its not too hard to make them.... rigging, boning, skinning, and importing them is the hard part..

Anyway since I got 3d studio to run on my computer, I will start to study creating things with it.

Heres the key question, do you want to learn to use the application OR do you want to partially learn how to use the application, and then learn to use it for RF.
I must admit, you dont use hardly any of the acuall application for modding RF.

Yeah well, I need to find proper pen and write a note for my monitor not to run 3d studio max 4.2 IF I have done something before on my comp. (restart and start working) dunno what causes that but I bet it is lack of memory.

What are you on about? You use quite a bit of the application..

Creating the mesh, applying textures, modifying the mesh, rendering to check if it looks fine, etc..

RF Bone isn't the only thing you have to do to mod RF with new guns. A model doesn't appear from nowhere.

Plus character models are one of the hardest things to do IMO.
Back in RF... getting back into the swing of things!

totally agree Exo. making weapons and getting them into RF is a really hard job. only a few can do it.

I have managed to get Weapons into RF, my problem is my models look cack. whats the point in doing it if your weapons look like they are made out of lego/clay?

As i said before Exo, you do the weapons I will do the importing
