The concept is pretty simple, just have the light go through a lens to bend the light around the item, so no light hits the item.

Isnt it a bit of a blatant privicy problem?
Has anyone patented invisible speed cameras yet??
How about invisible get away cars or invisible murder weapons....
What happens if you run over someone who was invisible? Are you guilty of their death?
And if this meta material is made of tiny coils that bend electromagnetic radiation, what does that do to your brain?
And will it stop me listening to my mp3 player whilst stealthed? |

Well if someone was invisible and you hit them with your car, the police, state and federal government (this is in America) won't press charges. You couldn't see the person because of something THEY were doing, not because of your negligence. For example, about a month ago, a man was hit by a car a few houses down the block and the man who was driving the SUV was not, and has not been prosecuted for anything. The man who was hit (he died by the way), was wearing dark clothing, riding his bike without reflectors, on a street with no streetlights at night, so the SUV's driver didn't see him.
When the technology is more advanced and refined, I'm sure it would be limited to military applications. Otherwise someone like cyrus5 might get a hold of it.

i think they are more worried about fooling the radar rather than making people invisable ... besides if you were invisable, and you get anything on you ... they could see you, also you still would have a heat signature that you could be tracked down by.
so it isn't completely stealthy ... |

Yeah, I'm sure all police precints have standard issue thermal goggles nowadays, you know, with the FICTIONAL, yet popular, Splinter Cell and everything. You never know when some lunatic will steal a developing project from the military and use it to make himself invisible, but wait a second, for it to work on him, he'd have to be billionths of a meter small. So I guess he won't be much of a threat anyway. |

Heat vision isn't fictional ...
By the time that comes around, they probably will be standard ... theyre good for finding people that are hiding. |

If you were cloaked with the 'light bending cloak' then you would be utterly blind (no light would reach your eyes). The 'image projecting cloak' idea has been around for a long time and could work on people i suppose . |
