OK, SO HERE is the deal, (srry caps), I have an ATI RADEON 9600 XT graphics card , and 512 MB RAM , and a reletivly high processor unit , however, UT2004 is still running choppy and will sometimes quit w/o warning. This may be due to:
1.) UT2004/5 Navy has a few glitches that need to be resolved.
2.) Graphics of Ballistic Weapons are too much for my PC.
3.) My PC just plain sucks.

Can anyone offer any advice? What will happen if I raise the frame rate o my Monitor? and will it explode when I do that? PLEASE reply if you have any useful advice!

I had a 64 mb graphics card, 512 ram, and a 2.2ghz processor, and UT2k4 ran EXTREMLY choppy, now i have a 256 mb graphics card, 1024 gb 800 mhz of ram, and a P4 2.66ghz, and it still runs a little choppy at times, i would DEFINATTLY recommend getting a better PC, even my new computer is fairly obsolete now, theres normal people with 3ghz processors and 5gbs of ram.

5GB is RAM.... Dude, that is not "normal"...

I can run UT2k4 on an eMachines running an AMD Athlon XP+3000 @ 2.0GHz, 512MB DDR RAM, Integrated GeForce 4 MX440 64MB video, and it runs as smooth as CounterStrike Source on that same pc... So, to sum it up, it plays EXTREMELY smooth Never played choppy

First of all, that 9600XT card has a lot of issues(I have one I placed in another pc ), and I would get the latest ATi drivers.

Ut ran flawlessly on my old pc: Athlon 2500+ ran at 1.8Ghz(the older 32bit cpus), 512mbs of Kbyte ram (bargin-bin quality) an ATI 9600xt (from Gigabyte Tech)... no problems at all. Sure I couldn't run at to high of settings, there should be no problems with the set up you have now.

What you could do, since you are running the 9600xt, is turn down the graphic detail a little bit. The 9600xt series chip, from my experiance, could not really handle full texture detail. Try lowering the 'Texture detail' settings a bit. This may help. If that still doesn't help, then move on to other things, like 'Character Detail'.

If all else fails, try using the 16bit texture mode.

I also notice, under your profile, you have a 21" monitor ?! -damn thats big- If you are running at the native resolution, your graphics card may not be able to handle doing that. If you have not already, try running at 1024x768 resolution (in the game settings, not monitor settings)... (and no, it won't a-splode if you change the refresh rate )

You might want to check out THIS thread.
I have noticed that strange things going on when my CPU is running SLOWER than normal.
I still have this "problem".
Now dont think that lowering the FSB to get a better framerate is a good way. I think karma physics and other calculations will be done slower.
I have never benchmarked this trick. (because I still dont know how to run benchmarks!! I was about to ask this on 3dbuzz anyway..)
I only compared the framerate while the camera was standing at one point. (I have moved the camera to low up to very detailed areas and I always got the same results)
The framerate inceases sometimes over 30% which is unbelieveable. Somehow, other games wont run faster by doing it. Theres something wrong, either with my PC or with UT2004.

You can find a nifty utility that makes Benching Ut200(3/4) easy, found here. The utility is free, but $6 US per year to submit your score on their site to compair with others.
