All you people that are still playing the RF Worldwide demo, can break out your piggy banks and purchase Red Faction for only 1 cent (US) on Amazon.com. Just search Red Faction on Amazon.com.

I think the link is bad,

There is also shipping and handling to pay for. So it's $5.96 total for it. Not bad for such a great game, even if it is balancing between life and death

I would understand why THQ isn't supporting Red Faction, if Red Faction II was multiplayer. They aren't supporting it because of it's age, but how old is Starcraft again? Eight years or so? Age isn't a very good excuse if you ask me...

The difference is that Starcraft has sold way (way way way) more copies than Red Faction managed... and still continues to sell.

Under the rule of "you get what you pay for" I don't think that deal would be as sound as it seems... how is the distributer making money?

Got to be a catch.

The distributor has already received their share of the cash for it. Probably 4-5 years ago when Amazon bought the stock from THQ in the first place. After such a long period of time it makes sense for Amazon to clear out the stock of older games so that its shelves can be used to store newer more popular games.

Sure they loose money on the game but its making them nothing sitting on shelves in their warehouses taking up room that more profitable items could use.

Yes, but they made that much and more money off selling most of the stock earlier.

I never did figure out why the PC version of RF didn't get more sells, the game is on my top 5 list of the greatest games ever along with,
1.Halo 1(Xbox)
2.Goldeneye 007 (N64)
3.Age of Empires (PC)
4.Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)

Why doesn't garner buy a couple copys for the first product of the L4Y shop ...
it would be about $10 for 10 copys since you would buy them and be able to ship them together.

then you could turn around and sell them for $5 a piece

From what I can tell, Red Faction cost $1.28 plus $5.90 for shipping per copy for a grand total of $7.18 dollars .
That sorta sucks, even if you order more than one copy or other items from the seller, they will still charge you the same price for shipping. Which leads me to believe that they make their money from shipping costs.
I've bought video games before and the shipping costs are under 2 bucks when they send it media mail, which most likely they will send it that way. For those that might not know, media mail is basically forth class mail. If you know the US postal service, you know that those packages don't get treaty very nicely.

With that said, I bought the following items:

1. Red Faction $1.28 (a bargain)
2. Deus Ex: Invisible War $1.91 (always wanted to try it)
3. Capcom Hits 2 1942 and 1943 $0.44 ( )
4. QUICKSTUDY ALGEBRA 2 $1.69 (for my nephew)
5. Turbocad Deluxe V9.2 $5.19 (just for the heck of it)

Subtotal of Items: $10.51
Shipping & Handling: $29.50
Order Total: $40.01

Sure my copy of Red Faction is probably in mint condition but it doesn't hurt to have another copy, just in case.

Delivery estimate: April 13, 2006 - April 18, 2006

I'd buy Red Faction a second time..if it was an english version, because I dont have that one.
My holy Red Faction CDs don't have even one single scratch. I treat them like my...erm.. eyes
The lack of promotion, and the so called "useless SP geomod" wasn't good for the game. The geomod engine is capable to do SO much more than it was done in the SP campain.
The graphics looked old when the game came out...

Starcraft still has a good look and the balancing and gameplay is perfect, which is the big difference.
