This question is to people who understand the complexities of tga 's their format and Red Factions use of them.
I am currently working on a new HUD texture set. The whole HUD is done but I am working on the ctf flag bases for both red team and blue team.
For some reason the Red Team Flag base will not let me load a new texture for it into the multi folder.
I was thinking it was hard coded and cannot be changed with a vpp into the multi folder.
Red_Base01.tga****
Blue_Base01.tga
I've tried to make them 24 bit versions and also tried 32 bit versions with Alpha channels neither has worked. I always use adobe photo shop 6 for any final versions of tga 's I make.
I was not able to over write the Red_Base01.tga with a new version of the file in vpp multi folder.
The only thing I can think of is that there is a map in your multi folder that has already changed the texture for the flags and it's reading that one instead. Maybe the .vpp name comes before your level's name.
Great thx guys Yeah I went through all my vpp files in multi and found serveral tgas that were mixed into levels. Here is the list I found:
DM_mf_RF_Arena.vpp Rail Driver Over Write Texture. Railrifle1.tga
DM-RFU4.vpp bad red base over write texture. Red_Base01.tga
DM-RFU4.vpp bad red base over write texture. Sniper_3rd.tga
DM-RFU4.vpp bad red base over write texture. shotgun2.tga
apparently someone didn't check the Red Faction United 4 for those tga files been messing with my HUD changes for a while now
