Hey I was just wondering if it would be possible for Frank to produce a batch download of all the maps in a category at the end of a month or some set time period. Like have one batch DL of all the DM maps on L4U, one of all CTFs, and so forth that is continuously updated at the end of a certain time period. I know it wouldn't be much use to the dial-up users as it would be HUGE, but for us who have access to broadband it would be nice to go to virtually any server and have the map they're playing without having to go into the server only to find we don't have the map, exit, go search for it and DL it then go back with only 2 seconds left on that map. :-
Also, if there's any staff members reading this, is there a possibilty of a multiplayer patch for RF2 anytime soon...? or ever? |

No to the RF2 thing.
And that file would be like 50gb... no way would we host that here! There are map packs and talks of a l4y server though... |

Thresher non of that is going to happen. Especially the RF2 patch.
It would create a huge server load to do what you are asking.
<--See the donation button, now look at the amount of money that has been created. The server needs money to operate. Most of it comes from Garner and members of this site that have a G box in front of their name.
Sometimes I wished Garner would just add the pop up adds and maybe create a little more revenue for the site, but he doesn't want that on his site. |

Thresher I understand yer eagerness to get all the maps.
I also had that problem not too long ago. Our great benefactor, NoClanFrank reached down from the heavens and helped me.
So now I pose a question for this same magnamonious benefactor...
Would it be ethical to upload, to FileFront.com, the massive collection of RF maps?
In this manner one may click fewer times to retrieve large quantities of data.

PS: My rank at FileFront.com is 42,504 and I have fallen over 1,200 points lately. |

Hey you hoser. That screen shot is an unfair one. I was in Jihad mode that day...yesterday. That screen shot doesn't tell the whole story. Does it show how many times I killed myself while I got those frags?
Funny thing is that when I reached 29. I panicked. I thought I was actually going to win even with all those self fragging. You have to admit I did fairly well against your awesome fragging skills without ever using a weapon that didn't have explosives.
Also, thanks to all that were there that day for not calling me a noob for doing what I did.
As far as uploading files to file front. I'm in the process of uploading a map pack for my server. My clan mates want one. LOL So I do as they ask. I wouldn't want to be clan-less. That would make me a noob. The current file size is... -_-_ |

Quoting NoClanFrank | The current file size is... -_-_ |
I thought I finish that statement.
The total file size is 50.48 MB (52,927,454 Bytes) with 23 files in it. If you need the rotation, you can get it here:
Franks_Dedicated_March_Rotation_2006.rar
I will fired up the server in a couple of minutes, as always there will be defaults maps thrown in between customs to get new players in or just let them stay a while. |

Sounds good... eh... March rotation... shwell...
So what about the earth shattering ethical question?
Uploading to FileFront.com huge archives of maps for ease of downloading?
What are the dynamics of such an idea? Is this the thinking of a pariah or a genius?
PS: Frank yer ranking at FileFront is way worse than mine. |
