I was browsing Moddatabase.com when I came across a mod for Half Life 2 entitled "Blood Will Tell: Source". Intrested, I had a look aand this is what it said: "Blood Will Tell, A former Max Payne 2 mod is going to be recreated on the Source engine!"

FORMER? Is this the end of BWT? I hope not, but I was just wondering if anybody could answer my question.

I saw a news on Pmods.net about the project moving to HL2, so I guess it's canceled for MP2.

Well, thats just what I read. But seeing as the next 'Only the String Survive' movie is being ported onto Source, then I predict that BWT is gone forever.....

"Announcemet details

Sunday 22 Jan 2005 - Today the two Max Payne 2 modders Cypress and Sentinel announced Blood Will Tell, a former Max Payne 2 mod, for Source.

Blood Will Tell is a third person horror-survival mod, created in late 2004. This product have been in development for one and a half year. And now it's hitting Source.

''After days of discussing we finally came to a end. The famous Max Payne 2 mod ''Blood Will Tell'' will go Source. This will be a direct port of the original mod, reworked on the Source engine. You will still step in the shoes of Ray Walker and make your escape, yet in a source world.''

''We have cancelled the mod for Max Payne 2: The fall of Max Payne due the help we needed, but never received. The Max Payne Community still remains on a small amount of people who are currently finishing their work. The community did not contain the spirit and people anymore to complete this mod. Already a lot of modders switched engines and we felt like we should do too. But also the team fell apart. We all have a personal life and a education to finish. In the Half-Life² community we can expect much more help and support.''

''We are currently preparing and getting things organized. The whole mod will be reworked into detail and nothing of our original work will be lost. Nothing will be changed, only perfectionized.''

Not sure is if Blood Will Tell will ever see the daylight on the Max Payne 2 Engine, and if, then it will never release like the team wanted.
We both hope and would like to thank the people that have shown interest in this Max Payne 2 mod, and that they may keep following it.

More information will follow..."

I took that off the BWT source site, but since its so old, it leads me to believe that perhaps the mp2 one is still in development. Its hard to say. I hope cypress can tell us soon

This is essentially why a lot of mods for MP2 don't see the light of day....lack of help.

But then when people do help...and then leave...then rip off your code & release something they didn't create & call their own....well this also kills the community & modders spirits.

I fully understand & sympathise with their frustrations.

That's true, people who steal codes and release stuff they didn't create claiming it as their work is actually the main reason many modifications ended up cancelled and forgotten

But, honestly, the Half-Life 2 mod community hasn't been that active lately, you know.... the other day I was searching the web and I realized that there's a number of modders who are going back to Half-Life 1 (take a look at "City17.ru")

It would be great if they released a demo of the mod for Max Payne 2 (at least).

Hey, catch me later, I'll buy you a beer.

Yea a beta version might help calm us down....

I just hope that this mod can be finished but the future looks very doubtful....

If they needed help, all they had to do was ask on the Forums. I bet loads of people would wants to help out, me included. But seeing as my copy of HL2 is bust, I'm kinda angry at the engine switch.

You never get this with any other game, though, have you noticed? You never hear, "We have moved this HL2 project to the F.E.A.R. engine...." and it's because MP2 is old. So what?! Morrowind is older, and there has just been a TC released for it!

It just makes me a little bit angry. *Runs into corner and pouts*

The mod has not been moved to the Half Life 2 engine yet. We only announced it, we are perparing aalot of things, setting up a team and when we will eventually succeed we will defffenitly go to source.

On the other hand, the development of Blood Will Tell for Max Payne 2 is still going strong. killerwithin is finising his subway (which are 2 parts, the subway and a wierd alysium) map and malte is finishing the Introduction map.

I will still be here in the MP forums and help other people with their mods. The moving of Blood Will Tell won't effect my role in Regou Ops nor Agents.

The reason why we moved is quite simple. The source engine allows us to do so much more, we can make our mod better then it was on the MP2 engine. We are still at a point we can switch and take our already done work with us. And ofcourse the lack of help, max payne 2 is dead. I always said blood will tell would be released at any cost, so don't worry. It will only be slightly different from our origional intention to release it. The new weapon system for example, won't make it, and more minor things like that.

For a second there, i thought i wouldnt be able to play this mod ever Well it's nice to hear that the mod is still going strong but sadly the new weapons system isnt going to make it into the final cut...

BTW im not sure if you already explained the new system in the earlier posts but can you tell a little something about it? How is it different from the original Max Payne 2 weapon system?

Im a very curious guy hahas

Thinking of it, we may are able to implent is half. Well i actually wanted to keep it secret but anyway ill tell you guys. You are able to stash one weapon on your back (example: Shotgun), and one in your holster. The player won't be able to carry all weapons with him so he has to make choises. If you see a Revolver with 6 bullets and you have a USP with 3 bullets you can switch the USP for the revolver for example. A grenade can always be carried.

that sounds cool, it kind of reminds me of CS (one rifle/smg/shotgun + one pistol + one grenade)

Sounds interesting...and it's also good for a zombie mod since you cant have a dozen weapons in your disposal and you can just whip out any weapon you want

So I guess that this system allows you to choose your weapons wisely and choose which suits the situation.

Sucks that only part of the new weapons system will be in the TC
