I've just started making my own maps but I can't find a tutorial in red editor that just tells me how to add weapons and other rooms if anyone can help that will be great thanks!!

To lay objects simply go into object mode (Shift+O) and when you double click on an item it will be placed exactly where the camera is in the 3d Viewport. You can then select the object, snap it to the grid (Ctrl+G) and then move it with M+cursors wherever you want it

For some good tutorials try Red Tech. There's a complete beginers tutorial in there that if you follow through you will gain many skills

The basics such as item placement and basic room building is covered in the RED Help under Tutorials. After you finish that (very basic) then go to Red Tech as mad_ferrit suggested. Personally, I just did the Hello Room tutorial and then I experimented to learn everything else myself. But thats just me.
