How do i make an entity explode into little chunks of meat when it is hit by an explosion like the bink movie on the second disc of RF?

i dont think its possiple, it is if you make some animation in 3ds max i think but im not sure

well... bink movies arnt in game... they are movies.. i dont think its possible... if it is i havent thought of it

Um no, the movie was recorded in a debug mode in the game and then compressed useing bink. As for the exploding entites, pretty much impossible, there is proof that it was in game at one time but taking out probably because of many errors or it just didn't fit in the game. By proof i mean there is still evidence of them in one of the tables (vclip, explosion, emitter, effects, or materials), Gib01 and Gib02 or something like this.

You can make a new Vclip animation and then assign to a character for when they die... or explode.

For example try coding the submarine explosion to a character... its quite funny. I did it with my zombies just for fun.

Example Tutorial.

open the Entity.tbl in notepad....



If I remember correctly you just copy this section from the Submarine info and copy it into another entities info.

i.e
Copy it into the area above the "use" text.


Im just going by memory, you may have to copy the "explode radius" too.

Now all you need is a cool gibs explosion Vclip animation.

EDIT

If you delete the death animations for the character they will explode as soon as their health reaches zero, this would be best if you are unable to make new characters with new animations to match the gibs explosion.

Yes, it would have to be released as a new " certain file", but 1.3 servers would see that as a cheat mod and wouldn't allow you to play.

In red frogs lego mod, u shot them in the head with somthing high powered there head falls off and rolls around. I'll bet u could make some thing like gib were they fall to little pieces when u blow them up.
or maybe make it gib like in vietcong were legs,arms and head will fall off. I bet u could do it

Yeah.
I'm not sure if it worked for you people. (perhaps the blood texture is different in other version?) But I have done the same thing as Diesel on the Lego Darth Vadar and those Elite killers. (and in the end, when the boss dies)
When they die, blood spreads all around (no gibs) and collides with the world. Got that idea from games like UT

I'm not sure if explosions are played in multiplayer though. Diesel have you tested this? I think I have (LAN-) tested it and it didn't work. Or maybe that was something different, I forgot.

You could do a VFX version which doesn't collide with the world and has mesh gibs such as legs or heads. Or a emitter version which doesn't allow mesh particles but collides. Man, why didn't they add a mesh support for emitters. You could try to create sprite textures that show some parts of the bodies tough.
