I didn't mean that you were a cheater beacause you know how to do it.
But I don't like it when people mention things like that in the Forums

Woah hang on a minute!

1st i wanted to know what was going on in some of the servers i was playing on - found that out

2nd i wanted to know what 'client-side' meant - found that out

3rd i wanted to find out hot to make client side weapon mods because i wanted to re-model some of the guns in RF from UT2003 - sort of found that out (thanx to REDFROG)

4th i am not a cheater! i am just knew to this whole 'modding' thing and just needed some answers to a few questions.

btw. Thanyou everyone for all your help!

Unfortunatly weslem, as you may know RF has alot of Cheatrs which are also called Modders due to them using Cheat Mods. Then when a topic is brought up its sometimes hard to distinguish what they are after, and that is why alot are defensive.

I would normally help someone no worries if i knew that their intentions were good, you are new here so i stayed on the defensive a bit, nothing personal but i would hate to aid a possible cheat modder.

Yeah well I have seen those cheat modders and they most ofter write their mods by them self.

Anyway I can also provide help to do mods but not anything cheat likes, only fair ones. That just because there is enough of cheat modders in RF already and most servers run 1.20 patch which does not prevent cheat mods.

Yeah, I found out that Red Faction modding is nothing else than changing the properties of the game. Doing some work on the clutter or entity table is a little different, but it's still changing and using arlready existing properties and codes. Everything is very limitated and you've got to think about tricks to make the things go as you wanted.
It's very different in other games, and yet very hard.
UT04 has no reloadable weapons...man that's very difficult to do. There is no reference in the game so you've got to code it yourself, not like in RF - which is much more mod friendly .

Yeah UT04 has no reloads at all. When the Rocket Launcher was half done I noticed that I forgot to create a magazine bone that can be used for reloads. I never thought of the reload animation. lol (The UT rocket launcher has a magazine on the right side but I didn't animate it)
The Assault Rifle has a real magazine (however, you cant see it, its out of the screen). I think it looks much better when a hand holds and reloads it
"homemade"? All my animations are "homemade"

I've converted the Manga for UT2004 use. Even with bones for fingers and the magazine. I thought I would figure out how to code (or at least copy n paste some code) that reload script someday, but I can't do it. It is cool, you can make weapons that can be used in your custom level, only there and nothing else so there's no mod or mutator required. (like I've done with the health pack etc in DM02)

Anything else can be an accurate way to tell someone is modding, but if I had a nickel for every time someone cried "moddarszs!!11" just because they got fragged, I could buy a coke!

For most of the time I think recently RF has matured past stupid modders, they have definitely become the exception instead of the rule. Maybe it's just because I stick to established servers and those running custom levels.

This was a "normal" sever with modders (cheaters? ) playing client side mods.. as in ONLY THEY have the advantages of the mod.

You get that message because you were trying to use a "legal" mod where the server would have had to have been running the same mod. And to answer "HOW DO THEY DO THIS??" ---DON'T!!!! People who just want to have a nice relaxing evening of blowing s**t up don't need you ruining their game for them. 99% of the time that a modder joins a server, if nobody has rcon to kick them, the server empties out within minutes! DON'T! ..don't. At the very least.. read the forum rules and realize that this forum is the WRONG PLACE to ask for help with cheating! Thank you.
