I found out what i was doing wrong i didn't know about the hotkey k to show backdrop in the editor (hotkey k toggles sky on/off)
the reason to see the sky in the editor is to position the skyzone propely in the brush
eg:
1 not to close to other brushes
2 make sure the skyzone is in a viewable brush
hope this helps others with the same problem
