Dear guys and girls,
I am to break the bad news upon this but Future Town has failed to be completed.
The reason is that I think I over done it on the amount of brushes and Faces that RED has limited.
I created a brush, then RED had crashed and had to be closed. When it was re-opened, I loaded up my map save file, and EVERY single brush was gone, disappeared, deleted. All that was left was the objects that were placed on the map.
I know I should of made a backup, but stupid me did not think twice. So I don't think I have the patients, to sit and do another one lol.
I will be still constructing new maps though.
I have decided to put the poll topics to one side for the moment, and concentrate on a new type of map, which I don't believe anyone has made or created for Red Faction yet.
If anyone remembers the good old days where the Sega Mega drive was out and the first ever game and character to be created was "Sonic".
Well I am hoping to make a map based upon that idea, with fast and speedy parts, loops and secret walls.
I saw a map already made on Unreal Tournament 1999. Its called GreenHillTop or something like that in the CTF section. I thought it was a good idea, and would like to create my own with sounds.
Maybe the sounds off Sonic 3D since it would be 3D istead of 2D .
Who is up for it? |

That's strange. Did you have any portals in it at all? |

spikey.... what about the last time you tested the map. the map should still be in its vpp last time you tested. unless you compiled it when it was broken. |

Unless it crashed while he was trying to create a level pack file, then he would have an empty zero file, which should be deleted any way.
Spikey2005 sorry about your lose. Well at least now you know next time to make backup copies of it. I usually compress them so I don't accidentally pick them while opening a file in RED.
You always have more than one back up, just rename them however you want. |

Naw, I don't have any ideas, but I am glad that you might be making one. Your maps have always had great game-play, even that HUGE map called mass faction?

Can you not open the last uncompiled file you saved in RED using notepad,by renaming it to .txt? (I would have put the extension name but its been so long since I used RED)
In Radient,if something goes wrong ,you can open the .map file in notepad and make changes |

Well, all this help is really helpful, and now im suffering even more worse problems than my maps going to zero. I am now experiancing techincal problems with my computer.
It seems to me that my computer has decided to go wacko with the CD-RW and DVD-RW drives... Everytime I go to install something, the installation gets currpted by a file error. When i try to install something on a different machine, it works fine.
Ive found that my CD/DVD drives can read and write perfectly fine, but they seem to have problems installing things.
Im running a number of tests (Trial and error) on my computer to see if I can find out the problem.
I have checked the cables at the back of the hardware and found that both cables are not faulty.
I am now going to see if its the motherboard causing problems with my hardware.
I have ran one test which is swapping the cables around from the hard drives to the CD/DVD drives, to see if the problem would happen in my Hard drive. That has shown inconclusive.
It looks like I will be re-installing my computer to scratch, but luckly, I have Ghost image backups on DVD disc.
I am going to try Reseting the Jumper on my Motherboard to see if it would fix the problem. If it keep occuring, im going out to buy a new motherboard and prcoessor. |
