FRAPS is pretty cool. Right now im using it to make some funny gameplay movies from Max Payne 2. The only problem is that the file size for the movie is so big. IT's about 40 mb for just 10 seconds of recording.

For making a video (with FRAPS, as I do). The file size can be especially terrifying.

You will need something to edit and encode it.

I use PowerDirector the program has a good interface, lots of channels to mix video, transitions, and titles already built-in.

I also recommend DIVX as your export medium. The files are small, look good, and most people can remember the URL to get the codec (if they don't have it already).

I actually used adobe Premiere for a while, but the constanting crashing made me look elsewhere.

OMG...ok guys I have FRAPS and have been kidding around with it since it came out. So let me just tell you somethin...

On the left side of the FPS there are two options that says "Full resolution" and "Half resolution" which means whenever you have it on "Full resolution" it records the whole screen just like it looks on the screen, and that will just improve imagequality at the cost of FPS/frames per second...which means LAG!
For US, the viewers sake, choose "Half resolution" before you record.
It records the whole screen, but just a little less picture quality, which really isn't a very big deal.

You should not record with resolutions higher than 1024*768 in the game, unless you have a monster PC.
And another tip that really works is to:
"TURN OFF ANTIALIASING"!!!
Doing so will probably double (or triple) your movie recordings framerate.

And plz record at maximum 30fps, unless you have that monster PC that have forgotten about FPS/LAG issues ages ago...

Hope I was helpful!

Not always nessecary. I am in a PAL region, and edit 99% of stuff using 25fps source material.

I captured & edited the Hall of Mirrors trailer entirely in 25fps.
