hi folks!
i launch a red faction server from time to time, but my ip adresse
changes very often and so i would like to try out dyndns.com or something like that.
has somebody experience in this subject? do i have than a static
ip adresse which i can use for panjaland.com for example?
thx for answers

I use a free DNS service and it does work for UT2004 but the only draw back is that they can't ping that address. I added the address to PanjaLand but since it displayed that for a IP address, it didn't help much. Unlike UT2004, Red Faction didn't allow me to add that address to it. I thought at first that it was because the name was too long but that wasn't it. I not sure if the new IP Tracker program will add that IP address to the favorites and if it will work, but like I said it can't be pinged, which would make it seem like it is off line.
I mostly use it for my friends that play UT2004, so they won't have to keep changing their favorites, I even went as far as putting a link to the server on my team speak server where all they do is click the link and it takes them to my server. Too bad that can't be done with Red Faction.
I don't know if that helps or not but I thought I mention it.
You can use a hostname for panjaland.com, and it will store the hostname in the database. Since the hostname cannot be entered in red faction itself, the program that generates the list and favlist.adr files will look up the hostname and convert it to an IP for display/use each time it runs.
