I would like to know how to take the weapon from one mod and just use it as a client side mod. OR If someone has the rocket launcher and m870 from the converged mod could you please give me the links. And I'm looking for someone to make a weapon for me. If your interested in making a weapon PM me. |

hmmm its quite hard to extract a single weapon from a mod.... you have to find the exact right animations for that paticular model in the whole mods .vpp...
i can try after if you want. i can make weapons, but im very inexperienced when it comes to modeling for RF... but i can animate normally in MAX, as i have to for a skills compition in 2 weeks.. |

Its actually possible? Wow... I tried lookinfg for it but then I realized, its all one file! I see what you mean. I believe the termanology is "Looking for a needle in a haystack". Anyway if you could get me the Remington for a side mod that would be great. Good luck in the competition. Oh and the weapon I'm looking for is Rocket Launcher or Sniper's Rifle from Halo 2. No offense, but that might be a little hard for you I'm thinking? |

and hmm i could probably model those weapons but, id need someone like RED-FROG to animate them good... |

I think you should ask the "Creator" first that if you can use his/her stuff. After all, they did put their hard work into creating the mod and asking permission first will not hurt anyone.
If you don't ask permission, that creator could get you done for CopyRights.
I learnt my lesson after arguing the plot with Garner about my website looking the same as L4Y before the site upgraded . |

you can extract one weapon from a mod but if you miss just one textur or animation file you get weapon that eather looks or acts retarted take my word for it (cough STAR WARS BETA cough). but being as your just going to use it as a client side thing it wont really matter being as your the only one who will see it |

Well not really harm at all. He himself tried to make a side mod out of it and said it wouldn't work. So I'm gonna PM him and see if he can send me all the VPP files so I can try. |

Actually, I will have to go against what Goober said at top. It is not hard to use a single weapon from a mod. However, you WILL have to be patient in the process of finding, copying, and editting to your current table files as well as adding the weapon model + animations to the ui or your multi folder in a vpp. |

Well, I didn't try to do something like that myself, since I got the source files, and don't have to go throught all this trouble.
I've PMed you some hours ago...but I want to clear out things here.
Everybody could always take out weapons of any mods, even from hive if you will, and make them work as client side mods, only for own use. I have explained you that it is not that easy to create a client side mod by using weapons with wrong screen placements.
Usually a weapon needs some screen offset adjustments, which are set in the weapons.tbl . But as everybody knows, only 1 weapons.tbl will work at a time. THe trick is to create a client side mod without any table files, so it can be used/removed anytime.
Now, if you want to create a weapon client side mod by using "non-adjusted" weapons, you've got to modify the weapons.tbl and use the proper screen offset of them.
This way you can use as many custom weapons as you want, but keep this stuff on your drive
(I've already explained it to you in a long PM, perhaps I've explained it better in this 2nd try )
I forgot to mention something very important:
Weapon animations of normal mods like IronSun, Hive, eko or Weird are "incompatible" to RFs animation timings. This may result in dis/advantages when reloading a weapon - because the custom animation runs longer.
Of course I took care of that in my client side mods. A client side mod must not change anything on the gameplay. Otherwise it's cheating |

One major MAJOR thing before you do anything that REDFROG forgot to mention ... Backup all things u are gonna modify before modifiying them. |

I tried doind that to get the m870 and almost got it. I combed the .vpp with a fine tooth brushbut couldn't find one of the textures. Other than that, most files are either named after the weapon or have the same file name as the original weapon that it replaces. usually you can find the files for it by looking underboth of those names. Also check your original .vpp files in your RF folder for the names of sounds, anims, models, etc. hope i helped |
