amd dualcore 4400+
2gb ram

The problem I am having is that my graphics card is forcing red faction to skip 3 seconds for example, I made a 30min dedicated server and it lasted 10mins. This happens when am in any server like viper 3 ect and it looks like graphic lag but am not static it looks like a mod because my pc is so beasty its causing it to fire faster, move faster and even skips time.

I tried right clicking rf.exe>propertise and going to the compatibility tab and selecting compatibility mode for windows 98, I also tryed 95 aswell to see if it would use a different version of direct x.

Anyone had this problem & resolved it?

So beasty..... riiiight...

I wouldn't call your pc a beast, simply because you can't call any pc a beast. Every part in your pc is out of date within a month or so... So....

Anyway, moving to your issue, it is not your gfx card I would assume. I would first try reinstalling RF. Also, check your drivers, this happens with newer vid card drivers sometimes. Try going to an older Nvidia driver and see if that helps.

omg, you've got the fastest computer here on l4y!!

Looks like the game really runs too fast, the problem could be caused by the dual core processor or just by the cpus ultra speed.

Seems like there is no limitation set in the game. There is no need to use such a computer for playing RF anyway, so switch the PC when possible
Have you tryed to fix it by using VSync? This feature is only graphics card related but its worth a try..
I guess playing RF (or any other game) on that PC without Vsync enabled is impossible anyway, isnt it? Not if you've got a monitor that supports a refresh rate of 300hz @ 1600x1200 lol

Keeny, whether it's new or a year old, try older drivers m8.... It worked for me in the past.

And yes, the dual core may be an issue with the running of RF and such older games. Or is it only RF?! I myself do not own a dual core cpu and don't ever plan to, so I will/may never have first hand experience with what the effects of the dual core could cause in gaming with older games.

I don't plan to buy a new cpu the next year..or even longer.. (I can't promise )
I think the performance of a 3200+ will be good enough for the new games the next half year, or even longer. Depends on the games of course, I don't need to play the games run on a very high resolution, full details and even with Anti Aliasing..

He payed a lot of money to have a fast PC, but nowadays games don't need that much performance. Not even the crytek team needs such a "monster" for the new cryengine.. In a half year the hardware will be much cheaper and becomes useful for newer games.

I wonder when they will release the first CPU with 3 cores? 4? 5?

Thanks guys for the comments I really use the computer speed for XSI(softimage) inorder to decrease the overall rendering time.

I will download some older drivers later, thanks allot.

Skip, if I could *****-slap you right now across these forums I would!

And Keeny, just to make sure, if the older drivers don't work, then try the newest. Otherwise it may be your dual core.
