Anyone know 100% if the editor is included in the Mac version of RF?
I recently bought a mac (very impressive computers) and I would like to map on it. I could always just leave it on windows, but i plan to get rid of windows and just use Linux and Macintosh.
And yes, I know RF runs nativley on Mac OS 9, which I have insalled as well.
Thanks! |

The producers of Red Faction never bothered to port RED Editor to the Mac platform.
When I first got Red Faction I pursued that same question, "where is the level editor?". THQ told me, over the phone, it was overlooked to save time. They did not help me with my Mac Summoner problems either.
Be careful with custom maps on the Mac platform - some will crash, others will look twisted:

At least Graphsim developed an update version 1.2 for OS 9 & OS X, in case you don't have it, it is here:

I use Macs for AV and Red Faction. |

Hapa Hanu, thanks for your help, Im not surprised one bit, i figured that THQ would be way to lazy to make a map editor for the Mac version.
Goober, you probably don't like mac's or Linux because you've never tried them, and if you did, for not very long. If you used a mac for a 2 weeks you'd notice how much easier things are and how things work better on a Mac then on Windows. |

*This is way off topic but here goes.*
1. Macs are probably superior computers compare to PCs but they lack on one very important thing that PCs have a large abundance of.....SOFTWARE!
2. The lack of available software is the ONLY reason I bought a PC...OK, PCs are cheaper.
3. I like Bill Gates, I think he fathered me.
*To Bill Gates:
Please send me the back child support that is due onto me, I think the total amount is a cool Billion Dollars. * |

Macs are better for audio/video editing so some large businesses would use them or anyone centred in the area of audio/video editing. They are not really built for gaming so that is why I, personally, am not interested in getting one.
but as every technology battle goes ... they both have their pros and cons |

I would like to publicly speculate that computers in general are a modern disconvenience.
Incidently I dug threw my paper and electronic notes and cannot find the THQ number I know I had. I do have two phone numbers for GraphSim; however this was a couple years back and where they lead today - no clue.

This is a screenshot from Summoner. I used Virtual PC and VPP Builder to turn the game inside out and customized it; swapping maps and monsters and making it way more difficult. In this picture is one of three Luminars I threw into Wolong Nights, it was good fun to test it out. The reason why? The Luminar can pick up characters in one hand, shake 'em around for a bit and then throw 'em! |

Hapa Hanu, how does virtual pc run? Im thinking of getting it and using it to map for UT04 and RF. I've heard its strictly for simple things, and I've also heard it can take on anything... |

Oh my!
Virtual PC is an emulator program that runs as a "guest" on the Mac "host". There is a severe limitation in that Virtual PC cannot use Direct X and thus RED Editor can not be run.
I use Virtual PC to open .rar files and to review .vpp files. Otherwise it has no other use for me. Warning - Virtual PC is tempermental, slow and prone to screwing up on its own. |
