Hi all ive been making a really detailed map, its kinda micro faction in my bedroom, when i rotate the camera rf crashes... Plz help. |

Sounds like you either have too many detail brushes; putting too many will eventually keep your map from loading up in RED at all.. Or too many items / clutter remove some stuff from your map and check if your within the limits of RED. |

Yeah, this Red editor is 'NIT PICKY' FUSSY, you have to be careful what you do in it. |

well i deleted things but still its got hardly anythingin it :S Compared to the other microfactions its about 1 20th. Well heres the details...
Adding brush: 69/69
Cleaning final geometry...
Building rooms...
Fixing up texture uvs for ps2...
Had to add 2024 faces to fix ps2 tiling.
Fixing any t-joints...
Fixed 159 t-joints.
Checking for holes...
Found 0 holes
Brushes: 69
Portals: 0
Rooms: 4
Faces: 6990/10500
Face Vertices: 29543/50400
Vertices: 7670/13650
Rays recast: 2/8022
Timings:
Booleans: 1.072 s
Removing Bogus Solids: 0.131 s
Room creation: 0.344 s
Other: 3.283 s
Total time: 4.830 s
This is the maximum stuff i can fit in it, the room size is typical microfaction about 100m by 200 or similer..... 190 height.... THanx |

2024 ps2 faces, that means you did really bad texturing work.. That also means thats probably what is causing it to crash... unwrap your textures CENSORED |

How the hell did you create a map of 69 brushes which uses so many faces?
The real face count (7000) plus the addtional faces (2000) results in a total of 9000 faces. As the message says, the limit is 10500 faces.
With this map you almost hit the limit.
You must have used too much useless splitting on the brushes. Remember, every cut line multiplies the face count.
You should try to slice some brushes if you really got too much cutting going on, slice the top, bottom etc which doesn't need that much detail because the surfaces are flat anyway.
It is easier to hide some complex brushes (h), and then optimize them.
The face count limit looks like a joke to me... 10,000 ? A character of any newer game has at least twice as much But well thats another thing, but still, it's stange. |

I would check and make sure your graphics card is up to scratch on handling the textures not UVWrapped.
Remember that RED doesnt have any options to allow you to turn down graphics on it or any other detailed options. |

thats right.
I can remember that I've only been able to view my old map Citywar when I set the View on "Render Everything"
I had to be careful, when the mouse cursor crossed the views and it was not set to "REverything" the editor crashed. Only that way I was able to fix the level..because it was almost lost.
You could try to rename your textures folder to textures2, but DONT forget to create an empty folder called textures, or RED will remove this folder from the cfg list. (in this case, remove the RED.cfg file and start RED again.) It happened to me sometimes, because I forgot about it 
(I have also tryed to force RED to use additonal folders for the textures, but it didnt work )
Why should you do this u ask? Because sometimes it helps when RED doesn't need to show all the textures of the level (in case you've used custom ones), RED will run more stable that way and may not crash. But rename the folder before you start RED.
When you want to create the VPP you'll have to rename the textures folder back again. |

I wouldn't class them as Advanced options to low graphics down. I am talking the amount of detail given to a texture with what settings you have currently set lol.
You need to try some cough medicine... Thats a bad cough don't spread it around lol.... AAACHOOO! |
