I have reason to beleive that custom textures will reduce framerate.. has anyone else found this out yet?

I've never had any problems associated to custom textures. Do you have an extremely low machine? Or a very slow internet connection? These may also be contributing to that kind of thing happening to you.
Although I must say, I've never heard of it happening before

My theory is fairly easy for you to test out yourself.
Simply open a map which has plenty of Cust. Textures to test this out, take note of the framerate in RED (bottom right corner).. now apply the whole map with default texture and it should rise.
I do have a fairly low machine, but i havent had problems with RED even still.

I have a PC running P4 1.8Ghz 396Ram 128MB 9200se PRO
It holds a frame rate of about 60-120 on RF,But yeah i have noticed that with more custom textures the frame rate does go down.i think it depends on how fast your gfx cards memory speed is

i think that it has to do with the custom textures image size (512,246,128,64) and the bits/pixal (8,24,32)...
For anyone reading this in 2019 or later: The RF community is alive on the Community Discord
This crap eMachines with an integrated GeForce 4 MX440 runs RF smooth with nothing but custom textures in maps.... Only thing that I have noticed to cause lag or slow down a crap vid card is particle emitters.
