other ppl will simply find your server at your IP address . . just look on your Routers or LAN connection status page.
for use in the future there's a tiny RF Server Browser (RF_SB-both.rar) on this page http://tinyurl.com/7olgm . . really handy to see what games are on line, but also for checking if the master tracker & therefore other ppl, can see your dedicated server running (lists your IP & port too) |

if ur using a dedicated, ur porp will be listed some where on the dedicated setup.. should be rather obvious, then again i havnt hosted a server in a long time
also u might want to make sure u have open ports with ehich to host..that or be out on the dmz
if u need help doing that im sure ncf will post an answer in the morning |

you can find the IP address and port number by simply pressing TAB key to see the score screen it is shown there.. but remember sometimes servers dont show up for other people |

That doesnt work for people behind a router or on a network ... as it shows the remote IP rather than the internet one. |

OK if you haven't figured it out already this is how:
1. Go here: whatismyip.com.
2. Copy that IP address, which is your IP address.
3. Now to the IP address that you have just added, add this to it: :7755, assuming that you haven't changed the default port on which Red Faction works on when creating a server.
4. Start your game.
5. Click join.
6. Click the LAN TAB.
7. Click add a server.
8. Add the IP address plus the port 7755 (example 71.105.74.210:7755 which is my IP address for the server when I run one).
9. You should now have a favorite added to you list, if you don't see it or it shows it as N/R then you are behind a firewall wall or you have not forward a port on your router.
10. If you need to forward a port on your router then I recommend you find your router on this page and read how to configure it:
Portforward.com
You will also fine some useful information on firewalls on this page as well.
11. If you use Windows XP then it also might be a firewall issue then you might want to read do this:
Q. How do I enable or disable the Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall?
A. Click Start, Control Panel, double–click Network Connections, right-click the desired connection, Properties, Advanced tab, Under Internet Connection Firewall, un-check or check the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet check box.
Also read this: Use the Internet Connection Firewall
I hope this helps. |
