Sometimes when building a map you can accidentally hit H instead of g for changing global or local modes and what that does is make all your brushes do a nasty dissapearing act and then you lose your entire building and everything inside it gets suspended in space even though in the freelook view you can see your building upon the last build, hit space again and you see nothing build. Now I know why I couldn't select any brushes when i tried to get my building back ! But Shift-H got my building back. Pretty nasty this...

Well, it is made to work that way.
H = hides the selected brush(es) to make it easier to work on specific brushes.
Shift+H = unhide the hidden brush(es).
Nothing nasty in that, is it?
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

or Q locks brushes and Shift + Q unlocks them i use these alot for vertexing, makes it alot easyer

yeah I tend to hit alot of different keys by accident when working in the editor lol. like when I locked my brushes and I had no clue what to do but the good thing about RED is that there are so many hotkeys that you dont have to go through all the trouble of clicking and typing and all that other complicated stuff.
