I now lets start our own company and find a way to merge the geomod engine from redfaction and the source engine from Half life 2, that would be rediculously cool! geomod and an awsome set of physics to boot =D |

Geo Technology at this level, event today, 5 years later, is stay a unique feature in FPS. Is extremely rare to see this, we have FarCry had put this, but very minor and when they are use it? lol We see the "Geo" like more in RTS,... wierd If you have FPS title where you can modify polygone like RF, PLZ tell me!

Vidi44 refer to the webpage where XBOX 360 game list show the name of RF3, but it as removed... I think nothing is imposible, and i encourage Bill Gates to support Volition the same way they did for Halo with Bungie. Potenciel + Money = More money & recognition.
* It's easy to blame Bill Gates, when error happen, but think twice before critic him, because he doing alot for computer all over the word, and is a fact. Have also in mind, that our society are based on money first   
And im agree with snail_master, Geo in Half-Life 2,... WoW And im 100% sure that most of FPS will appreciate it, but what big this jOb is, it's another thing |

for one thing its Bill GateS
and i dont know of any other games that you can modify the terrian, and if it wasnt for geomod technology i dont think RF would of susvived this long, and i still think it has many more happy years |

So Red Faction was a commercial flop, failure. .. If they did release the source, then all the problems could be fixed, and then someone would give the game and editor a huge massive facelift to work with the more powerful machines, better graphics, more map area, more options, more objects, fix all the bugs, make it more stable. Write a complete help file, ect |

To forgive my mistake, i did some research on Söldner, because it`s a sad story for a game that had a future. JoWood Production close Wings Simulations studio for financial reason and at the same time canceled Söldner 2 project.

And i unfortunaly agree with this on the retail version, but maybe the lastest patch boOst the rating like DarkRx say;

Is the new developper that try to keep the Söldner community alive. They happear to be a serious team and count to bring Söldner to the next level. After Wings Simulations shut down, Project-Zero continue the development of the patch 33650. In the Faq section of the Official website they say they are the developper now. The game is very not supported, known and appreciated, broke link is a standard almost everywhere, also in there official website. But the community can still play because Project-Zero work for it. Söldner have many weapons, vehicles in multiplayer and a tactical commander mode in (top view). I will retry the game with expansion full patched and i hope more people will follow me. |

Looks like real geomod on Söldner!
I've heard about that game. Think it's from germany or austia.
But if u take a not so closer look you'll quickly notice the lack of detail on these buildings. Just like Red Factions dimensions for geomod...to avoid lags perhaps.
I don't think GEO mod of that kind will happen again in newer games with stunning graphics. Most structures in modern games are done by very complex meshes. And I doubt that it's possible to apply geomod on them.
Probably with better physic engines and new techniques as the ones thesedays..
I don't like it to hear people say terrain deformation is something like geomod. The terrain already is a deformated plane with many faces which can be dynamically deformed by special forces further. With the height tools in the level Editor you can do exactly the same as you do in the game. (UT2004, FarCry)
But games with terrains like this have their limits, if the terrain would be blown down too much a tree starts to fly over the hole..
Walls, done by many rigid pierces (with havok physics for example), patchwork walls if you will, are not walls with real geomod if u ask me
And some other games use scripted geomod, places that have some kind of movers or animated meshes, when u hit them they blow away and leave holes. Seen in CounterStrike de_vegas, or the matrix lobby map |

Let's see here, Geo-mod is used a good bit, although by your exacting definitions, it isn't. Legally, no company cannot 100% recreate Geo-mod, because Violition and THQ own the copyright to the name and processes used to create it (as well as the exact final result). That is why you've never seen another version of Geo-mod, as far as my understanding of copyright laws takes me (might be different, but I can't be that far off, having passed a nice series of Bus Law classes).
I take it Söldner isn't free, as they don't have a download for the main file. How much would it cost to buy a copy of it, it looks worth it if:
a It has an English version
b It doesn't cost more than 5 usd and has possibly free shipping
c I can download a full version for free (even potentially illegally, as such an unsupported game definately wouldn't attract the hippies in the RIAA gaming equivalent lobby), hopefully hyper-compressed to under 50 MB (preferred sub-20).
Actually RED, FF won't display the entire picture, so I've no idea what it looks like (yes, I tried "reload").
Actually Lace and topspins, Violition used RED to create all the default levels. Just use VPView32, and you'll see everything is done in RED. If it wasn't, then they did a censored job at hardcoding it all. Actually, I'd estimate that Violition pretty much just wrote the RED engine as the backbone to RF. Because they spent so long on the Geo-mod engine, RED had to suffer. Reading Dr@gon's anti-THQ page on RedFactionView.net explains slightly more. Basically, THQ used RF to make them look more professional, however throughout the project, they had a small-mindedness to it. They never realized the potential of Geo-mod and the RED editor, simply because all their previous projects were practially script-kiddie-bait compared to RF (elaboration: THQ before RF made mostly simple games that any idiot with a compiler and the slightest bit of C++ skill could write). Unfortunately, they never realized what was made, so they returned to their mostly script-kiddieness. Note that that's roughly 70% opinion on my part.
Anyway, basically RF was indeed rushed, RF2 was worse yet, as most of the time was spent updating the graphics, and RF3 seems to be abandoned by MS (the censored !). So, in about 10 years, we can all start begging for the source, because the standard copyright on intellectual property runs out after about 10-20 years (which would put RF at nearly 15 years old). Until then, go to hireacoder.com to buy someone for high prices to recreate RF from scratch, or illegally hack into RF via assembly and recreate the source. After you do that, expect the feds at your house roughly 2 days after you release RF 1.4: RED patch and update to limits. censored THQ and their hatred of humans. |

Im pretty happy with RF's capabilities and limits at this stage.. There is no point waiting 10 years or whatever for something that will most likely not happen anyway. |

I have to disagree with you on that one. The development of what turned out to become Red Faction started out as early as 1998.
Red Faction came out of the ashes of the cancelled Descent 4 project that Volition had been working on. Many ideas that was originally for Descent 4 can be found in Red Faction, for example, Red Faction's 'GeoMod' graphics engine was supposed to be used in Descent 4, and the main character, Parker, was borrowed from Descent 4 as well.
The first time Parker is mentioned, is back in december 1998. This means it took close to 3 years from the early stages untill the game was released, and I wouldn't actually call that "rushed". They made the game just like they wanted it, and then abandoned it.
RF also was intended to be a storydriven single-player game first and foremost, hence all the stuff that don't work in multi. Multiplayer modes were an add-on to get the game competitive with other games. |

I didn`t try alot in the past, but if my memory is goOd, Söldner have pre-destruction on buildings. (but they have done a great jOb)I dosen`t remember create hole in the ground like RF did
but they demontrate the possibility in the official website I din`t see falling parts too, because you hit a pillar...

Söldner: Secret Wars & Reloaded have US version, but Marine Corps happear to be only in EU version. I don`t find any related information about Marine Corps US release. All news about this add-on is not accurate, event in JoWood website, Marine Corps dont happear in the France release section too. And for question C, sorry find it yourself.
