im trying ot start up a program, and every time i start it up, the program goes to its start up window, then a black screen then closes out with an error sayin..well its not showing up any more but it was along the lines of saying "there was a serious error" and it says nothing more..

what could cause this and how could i fix it?

Some games like red faction you have an setup options before going onto the game.. to termine what your system has.. Maybe you missed something in setup?

Have you tried reinstalling the game?

if still no luck could be something to do with your graphics and the game.. if you meet the requirements of the graphics or RAM ..?? remember if you have no grahpics card your comp will use RAM instead so make sure you have enough RAM to run the game and cover colour..

If problems persist i dunno.. maybe its error on comp caused by? dunno. but most errors, spyware, viruses etc can be cleared by reinstalling xp.

Its healthly for the computer to reinstall xp at least once a year anyway. I try do it every 6 months (my cousin does it every month!).

Not much help but its better then nothing

thanks for the reply, the firend im asking for decided to buy a new pc to replace the one the problem is occuring, and the system specs coincide with the game.

ive also come to the conclusion that its more of a software confliction then anything else so im going to help the friend reformatt he pc when he gets the new one, which if its a software confliction then that will solve the problem to the program is installed again

thnx for the help tho
