okay, this year my video game programming class does pc game lans on friday and i want to bring in red faction. The only problem is that we are unable to install the game onto the hardrive of these school computers. We've been playing Unreal Tournament off of a custom made disc. Like the game runs off of a burned disc. My teacher had it made by one of his friends so he does not know how it was done. I was wondering how I might be able to fit the game onto one burnt disc to play off the disc. I'm not sure if this is even possible but I really want it to be possible lol. Even just Multiplayer would do fine but I doubt that it could be split up. Feedback is greatly appreciated ASAP.
LONG LIVE RED FACTION!!!

is it possible to modify the demo version files with the vpp builder so that it has more maps but still keep the filesize under 700mb.. ?

I don't know... never downloaded the demo... but if you can access the files and there are VPP's in there containing levels then it shouldn't be too hard to add a few .rfl's and textures here n there.
Admittedly I know very little about such things However would it not be possible if someone has a external / removable hard disk to install it onto that?
I would have thought that someone would have one...
why not put rf onto each computer run an update all the computers so they are all 1.2 then download lazy ban 3.0 use that exe to play it
Because that would be a major breech in security. Sys admins are weary whenever anyone installs stuff. Sure, he could do it, but look from their perspective: how do they know that something isn't corrupted or has a virus? We know it wouldn't, but they can't take the chance.
The external HD thing was a good idea. Couldn't you quickly mod RF so that it calls the vpps from the CD? I think that's how they'd have done it for UT, it's the simplest thing (if you're great at modding stuff).
Where do you go to school at, you're school sounds spiffy, hehe.
