This game will be made available for download on steam on the 26th of September. It will be a great addition to the catalogue.
Quote | Day of Defeat®: Source™ (DoD: Source), the latest version of the WWII online action game from Valve®, will be made available to gamers everywhere on September 26.
"Day of Defeat has quietly been one of the most played online action games for the past three years," said Gabe Newell, president and founder of Valve. "Day of Defeat: Source represents a major leap forward in both graphics and gameplay, and pushes the Source engine harder than any other Source project. "
DoD: Source takes the classic teamplay of DoD and expands the experience with Source, the engine technology Valve created for Half-Life® 2 and it's next generation of games. With this technology, DoD: Source offers state of the art graphics with optimized versions of popular maps and all new player, weapon and world models, plus support for HDR lighting.
DoD: Source leverages the power of the Source engine by introducing advanced sound technology to provide a more immersive soundscape and integrated physics simulation technology for ragdolls and physically simulated objects throughout each map.
Available via Steam for just $19.95 and in the Counter-Strike: Source retail package, DoD: Source is a rebuild from the ground up of Day of Defeat on the Source engine.
DoD: Source will be available for pre-load and pre-order next week. Those who purchased the Half-Life 2 Silver or Gold Steam offers will receive a request to pre-load the game at this time and will receive access to play the moment the game is made available.

Games developer's are not in th business of making free games. Those who bought the gold/silver package had to pay for Day of Defeat, it was added in to the overall cost. It's not free.

We can expect the Lost Coast a little after DOD:S is released and then it's Aftermath time! |

I'm half expecting lost coast to be released on the same day as a nice surprise. They don't have to advertise it in advance as it's free so it could very well be. Opposing Force should be out soon too.
The Aftermath in November I reckon. |

If it came with a t-shirt, posters, hat, etc. Then it should be the Gold version. However, to make sure, does it look anything like this:

If so, then you have Gold |

It had a t-shirt and a official hint-book
no hat or poster.
and it looked like this:

I really wonder if collectors edition is anything like a gold or silver edition. |

Yes Mostert, that is/should be Gold. You paid what, about $55?
Anyway, Eagleeyes, they DON'T get them free, they paid extra for Silver/Gold, which that extra amount gives them DoD:S! That is the only difference between Bronze and Silver packages! Bronze is basic, and Silver comes with DoD:S Why don't you visit SteamPowered and take a look at the packages. Also, on Steam if you have it open, you can order/see the 3 packages and their features........ |

I guess i wont get DoD : Source
i found this on the steam site in the forums:
Quoting www.steampowered.com | Retail version (store bought) version of HL2 does NOT include DoD:S
If you bought a copy of HL2 in a store, you do not automatically get DoD:S once it is released. This goes for all versions, including the collectors edition.
DoD:S is only available for free on release to those who bought the Silver or Gold packages via Steam. |

Rewarded we were, for giving Valve the majority of the profit when buying over Steam.
We still had to pay for it though. |

Correct me if I am wrong but were we not told that those who paid for the more expensive version in stores would be able to recieve DOD Source for free? I could of sworn that was the offer back then |

Well, the Collectors Edition @ NewEgg shows DoD:S as being one of the items included in it..... |
