There seems to be a limit. If I put in more than 2 load Level events to enter or exit a map to load submaps from the map, then the game just crashes and won't load my submaps when backtracking into the main central map. I guess I can only link from one load level event to the next from Point A to Point B in linear fashion and can't have multiple entry or exit points in a map.

You could have multiple paths in the 1 map that eventually lead to the exit and into a new map.
same effect really except there is no loading screen |

You can have multiple load events ( more than the 'in' and 'out' ones ) in a single map. It's more likely that you've set them up slightly wrong.
If you grouped each level then added them all to a single file would they be connected to each other? That's how I always make them, that way makes it much easier to line the loads up 
I did have the crashing with one level I did that with, however I went over the two 'out' events and noticed one wasn't pointing where it should have been. |

I DID change the script names... For Cargobay 1. At the entrance leading to cargobay 2, To Load the Cargobay 2 map, I put "Cargo2" as the scriptname, and cargobay2.rfl as the filename and in the map cargobay2.rfl at the entrance leading back into cargobay 1, I put cargo2 as the script name because red wants the name script also in the level you are loading as well as the level to backtrack into or I get a cannot find load level marker scriptname error, then put cargobay1.rfl as the filename.
Yeah its tricky stuff. In one of my maps, I had 4 exits. That map CDK no longer loads back from the sub levels and that map also crashes when I start from the very beginning and go through the maps to reach it, it will not run and it is portaled.
The other map CDM also giving me trouble when coming back in from the computer room and will not load it, in another part of my maps, cargobay 1.rfl crashes after I go into cargobay 2 and try to get back into cargobay 1, for this map, only trying to backtrack into it keeps crashing it.
The game has very poor debugging, it is not user-friendly, if something is wrong in testing, red dosen't always bring up a window to tell you what's wrong the game just crashes out to desktop instead and you're left trying to guess. |

did you make sure that the rooms your loading to and from are in the same place? it helps if you make a group out of the area you plan to use for the level load and than make your next map from that, thatway you cna be sure its just right |

I've now tracked the cause of the loading problem... The map was corrupt. So I dumped it and got an older copy of CDD and replaced it, this time used hard level breaks. NOW CDD works. Rector.rfl was also corrupt so have to replace that as well as long as the backup copy isn't corrupt .

Im pretty happy with the level editor, but you just have to know you can do it before you do it..
If you are trying to make things that not even THQ/Volition would want to do then major expirementing and testing is required... well thats how i feel for MP mapping anyway since i have made some cool stuff recently that not even THQ would know. |

I used hard level breaks, now CDD works, I can access coalmines, CDE, but not reactor, reactor will have to be replaced. Stupid Red.
I'm happy with the editor (up to a point)
I did some real weird stuff, I even put a volcano deep in the bowles of one my maps with a lava chase that goes right into the next level but I think I will do more cutscenes stuff and start inserting cutscene maps, little maps made for showing cutscenes or chases. |
