I learned this while i was messing with RED.
1.Make a room like in the tutorial (40x40x60)
2.Build the room and go to face mode and select the floor of the room then click extrude 3 times.rebuild and save.
3.Go to vertex mode and pick jitter.Next use your scroll button on your mouse and start to go up until you reach 4.01.Why do you ask we need to scroll from0.01 to 4.01.Well with this method you can see each type of terrain and they are all smooth.
4.When you get that terrain click ok and save then go to Face mode again and use mesh smooth and use 0.50.Save and rebuild then texture it like it says in the tutorial.
With my method you only use 2507 faces then the regular 10,570 faces if you use Pickel,s method.My way doesnt make RED slow a bit and RED just runs like normal not slow.

Half of the credit goes to Pickels coz without his tut i would have never known how to make it.I still have not put in lights coz it was made today in 6 minutes.

it acualy doesnt work half-bad, leaves you with a few sharp edges, but you are saving like 8,000 faces so i guess thats fine, just a little vertex work when your dont to fix the sharp edges

You tried it great And what,s with the doesnt work half bad it,s great RED doesnt run so slow or crashes or both, when i,m mesh smoothing.The sharp edges can be ifxed easily anyway.

It was better AI scripting than I've ever seen. Even Assault-better looks like n00b-meat compared to what he did. He has the power to make anything fight anything, he is god of scripting. Best I can do is make AI follow waypoints and fly. Perhaps one day, he can show me how to do it. Until then, I'll map and script and make endless gallons of tea (because tea pwns coffee with its antioxidants and all that, plus it is far easier to flavor tea to your liking, and you can pick up a gallon of tea for what it costs for a small coffee at Starbucks).

God of scripting ?I woudnt go that far but thanks.If i only had that power in real life. Tea is tasty coffee sucks without adding 2 spoons of sugar and whip cream.

Actually the only difference is you didn't mesh smooth twice. And I mentioned doing that in the tutorial, if you wanted to save faces for lower end computers... but oh well.

have a battle ground of miners V Ultor guards, then after a while bring in a small group of heavy mercs with heavy machine guns, the mercs just cut through everything, looks quite cool, if you like the whole phycotic carnage thing

Already did that in my second map.But there are also Rock Snakes,mutants,and big robots too all killing each other and controlled by me like mindless brain puppets

actaully the best method of making realistic terrain is to just make a big air brush for your level and then make a box with 1 with and height split manually extruding and moving the edges around, this takes the longest but it porves most effective and uses te least polys overalland when you are done with the terrain just seelct the brush you used for the floor and start combining faces, deleting vertices, and merging them at the bottom of the brush to lessen the vert count. although it takes alot of time it comes with the best result.

another way is to just create a big brush covering the bottom of your brush area and start moving vertices up or down, if RED had a cut feature (that didnt affect the entire brush) or add vertex feature that would make it alot easier, dont forget that you can flip edges in face mode to smooth out big rigid edges...

god of scripting, not God. That is a title for Him.

Anyway, tea is great. Have a nice 24 oz (700mL) can sitting next to me almost every time you'll see me (provided I have the stuff in stock, I'll go through a few of them quickly).

the true god of sripting was the guy who implemented money and player skills into RF maps using events! you could get money and buy guns and stuff it was amazing

lmfao GTA - who was that? I remember it clearly and it was very well constructed, if only people liked rpg.

God of Scripting? I have seen nothing to suggest that.
If I ever get to where I am going, will I know when I am there?
