hi, i had the old demo on disc but i gave the disc to someone like..a forever ago...and now im in college and bored to hell so im looking for games to download... and i got on here and found a downloadable version of the game/demo...and i was wondering if ANYone knows how to load the file...as with any games...any game i donwload it asks me what to load it with and i dont have anything to play the games on..... so does anyone know what i need to activate the game, what i need to play it...
if i click it, it brings up a window asking if i want to open file, i click open...and what do i "open with"?

well i think just about every demo file is an .exe file so maybe it has downloaded without the extension. Try renaming the file so it has the .exe extension. Some installers i have come across have also been a RAR self extractor. So if the extension is .rar then you will need WinRAR to open and install it.(there are other programs that open a RAR file but im not sure what these are as i just use WinRAR)

it didnt have any extension at the end so i just added an .exe to the end of the name and it changed the icon and started installing and started right up~!~ THANKS~!~

I wonder if that is some security thing with XP. It has happen to me also. If XP removes the .exe extension, I am guess if the file was a virus it wouldn't be able to run until you added the .exe to it?
well i am not running XP i am running 2000 pro. and they has come from official gaming sites that release demos to the public and installers for mods and stuff so it is unlikely that they were virused and i always run a virus check on everything i download before actually opening it and nothing has shown up yet.
I am not sure why some sites like to remove the .exe extension but all i know is that they do and if you want to run the file you need to add either .exe or .rar
