Back again after what seems like ages. Had mega pooter probs after being hit with a pirate copy of WindowsXP off ebay. Reverted back to Win98 and that`s when all sorts of bad sh*t started happening, 98 not liking my 1gig of ram etc. But I`ve learned a lesson the hard way. Everything is now 100% with a real XP install.

Just wondering ... what was the problem with the pirated version. Didnt it work or something. not trying to support piracy but it would have been usable until you got your payed for version would it not?
P.S. Still Alive.

I was led to believe it was a genuine WindowsXP, I was charged £30 for it and told it was 100% genuine. The disk even had a rather convincing label printed on it and he told me I could update it via Windows Update, which it did twice. Then the next time it went through the Windows Validation service and failed. Apparently it had already been registered as having been installed on a networked system and was still active. When I contacted the seller he told me he didn`t sell it for the purpose of being installed on a computer. I asked him why he went to great lengths to make it look original and he said it`s all about presentation, people wouldn`t buy it if it didn`t look nice. BO**OCKS. I didn`t get my £30 back so I sent the disk to Microsoft. Ebay is ok but it seems to be a haven for ticket touts and rogues and it`s these people, the minority, that are giving it a bad name.
