Mind the uniform... Posted 5:33am 25th Sep 2004 by MistaAnderson
...because I haven't been well enough to wear one since contracting whooping cough 4 weeks ago - and its been kicking my arse ever since (hence the lack of progress & updates on this mod).

But heres some news thats fairly hot off the press from our coder, Rico.

Here's what I've done lately.

- Been working on giving the game a slight "bloom" effect similar to what the movie has. I've noticed there's some sort of tint to the whole film but I can't quite place the color... yellow?

- Tweaked the Gun Kata system some more. You can now access GK mode and the guns by simply pressing G at any time. I also fixed one of my bigger issues with the system and instead of having to hit a button to go into the special move set it does it automatically as soon as you select the guns.

- Added a new feature: Sweeper helmets can now have their visors destroyed when shot in the head. Very fun to do and also makes it worth it to aim and get headshots. You might see it in action once we release the trailer.

In other, sadder news, our animator Higginson is currently out of action....but I will be shortly approaching an animator who works for THQ here in my home city (and is a friend of a friend) to do our gun kata animations.

So fingers crossed I can get him to come on board with our little project.

Not without incident... Posted 5:42am 30th Aug 2004 by MistaAnderson
Well after creating the CDC for this project a few days ago, I have finally gotten around to spending some quality time on it.

First of all I'd like to thank Genxer for helping me getting this all up & running, I appreciate the trouble he went to to make this happen!

The big news at the moment is that I have actually made some progress on the trailer with actually game footage edited in now & overall its about 50-55% complete. But I will need completed gun kata animations before I can finish it & then release it to the general public. So at this stage there is no ETA on the trailer that I can give.

If you want to see something that I have edited on Equilibrium, visit this website:

Its a music video I did using all the action sequences from the movie.

The Gun Kata System itself is being worked upon by Rico and he has this to say about the system.

Here's a basic description on how it works so far:

1) You select the Cleric handguns

2) You hit the 'R' button to go into GK mode and to be able to perform the advanced moves.

3) You hit shift in conjunction with the movement keys to perform different attacks. You have to aim the attacks yourself because it's meant to be entertaining, the character performs a different move depending on the combination you use and we're trying to make sure they allow you to target different people at once as well as being able to use a different move depending on the situation. Oh, I almost forgot, you can rotate your character so as to help you target the enemies easier and stuff like that.

4) If you want to go back to regular attack mode then you switch over to a different weapon.

Higginson is currently working on refining the animations & creating some new ones at the same time.

Now that m1tCh & myself have tweaked the Hallway section with better door textures & fixed the big "T" symbol on the wall, we're currently working on getting Duponts octagonal office up to scratch - I have constructed a lot of textures for things like the paintings, Duponts desk, the floor & the marbled tiles for the walls & pillars.

Joonas is still working on getting the cross shaped muzzle flash right.

So thats pretty much where we are up to at this stage, keep checking this space or either of the threads at 3DRealms or MPHQ for more info as it comes available.
